Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

the ref was giving everything for both teams... the only difference our players don't fall down after the slightest touch.. cheating diving gits
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Not great tonight but sign of a good team to hold out for the point.

Alot of players well off form

Think that this will have been our hardest away match in this group.

Bring on the brumies at the weekend so we can make up for that display. :eyebrow

was Gerrard playin tonight or wot

Worst performance I've seen from any player in the last season or so.

If that were anyone else they would be crucified by now.

Totally agree Gerrard was awful dont evenm think he touched the ball in the first half.
My guess and its a wild shot he isnt fit.

But Rafa has sort of said well you played for England you will graft for us, but graft he didnt do almost Anonymous from our captain ?

Bit weird really, maybe the players that have been here for yonks have had enough of the CL and want the prem?
Or he is still pi.ssed off about getting dropped against Portsmouth.?

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I don't know what happened, but considering the quality of our team we played like a Championship side. Totally surprising.

Can't blame rotation for that imo. Porto took the :censored: out of us down the flanks, neither of our fullbacks could contain Quaresma who is an excellent player btw.

strange game. That's usually our league performance Porto came out with, billion's of shots, no joy.

In the end happy with the draw.

Pennant must learn from his sending off. In a cup comp, its just unacceptable. (i am talking about the warning's)

I only saw the second half but I can only say thnk God we rested half the team on Saturday. They wouldn't have played with anything like the same energy and fluency if they'd have had to play another match. Viva le rotationalution!!!  :D

In all seriousness though, it ain't a bad point. Get the lads back on the plane sharpish, in fact no leave em out there for a five day jolly up. Lets have a rotation party on Saturday, give Lee Peltier, Lucas, that Argentian winger and all the other lads who never get a game a run out. We'll still beat Birmingham without any bother, and hopefully we can the whole thing out of our system for a bit.

not much to say about that game apart from we got very lucky, we were very poor and if PORTO had been a bit better we would have got nothing.

The best thing to do it to take the point and not talk about it again..........oh by the way Gerrard was very poor but i also felt that he did not look well???

You mean the Birmingham that we have never beaten in the league under Benitez even with our full strength side?  ???

I want a full strength team on Saturday and a win. There's no reason to rest anyone because we don't have any crucial matches.

Maybe because he was playing so pathetically. I hate when people use excuses for the lad when he plays poorly. He was fine and dandy against England, and :censored: for us tonight.

Pennant let us down and I'm surprised that players kept diving in (particularly Masch) unnecessarily given how fickle the ref was and how quick they went to ground.

A draw at Porto is a decent result and Rafa won't let them perform that badly again.

porto players were diving all over the place, i'm hardly surprised a few of ours took the same attitude.

bottom line is, we played badly and didn't lose away from home.  FC Porto are a good team and if i'm honest i'd have taken this result with 11 men.

Sorry that might not have been clear - I meant diving in as in slide tackles and committing themselves to challenges.

Because the ref was blowing up every time a Porto player screamed like a girl and rolled around, we should have just stayed on our feet and kept it simple. Unfortunately we now have a few yellows that were unnecessary.

Still, we got a point which we'd probably all have taken before hand. The other bonus now is that our squad can cope with Pennant being suspended.

so what... now we're not letting him have an off day just because he's been tremendous for us almost every game?
