Agreed, it will be a slow day from me on here now.  We should all cool down I think, if possible.

Although you won't be seeing any pics of me and my monkey beard while I'm away, I don't fly for another ten days anyway.  I can take some pics of the beach for you all.  That will do...

In all seriousness, there are some excellent points being made on this thread in my opinion. I totally agree there should be a couple more mods, and if there were three or four blokes who wanted to have a go I'd happily step down. I've been doing it for about six months and wouldn't mind a break, and I know at least one other mod who feels the same.
Trouble is when time is short (as it is for me having a business to run and two little kids to stop putting their fingers in the plug sockets) as John says, when you log on you don't want to spend half an hour cleaning up, you want to talk about football. Often I don't actually post, I like to just read what everyone else thinks as I don't get any press coverage over here to speak of. Sometimes though I don't even get chance to do that and it gets a bit wearing.

I love the idea of "rotating" the mods. There's absolutely loads of lads on here who could do it, and I'm all for people having a shot. For my part I just try and moderate myself and not be unnecessarily rude to people, which I must confess I don't really find that difficult. The forums great with some great posters, don't slag it off too much I think we're all lucky to be a part of it. It's probably time for an election, and like I say if somebody wants to take my armband they're welcome to it.

Btw, I loved Cigg's idea about a lockdown if we win the Prem to keep out the gloryhunters   :D

John is definately the best mod on here and along with people like yourself Lynds, what the forum is all about. Just like the football team, the forum needs a local pulse otherwise it's just a bunch of fat blokes who live overseas talking about some pictures on the telly and dreaming of their next pint of real beer.

My post was intended to support the Mods and if possible help them, not knock them. I just thought an extra Mod might help. If you thought I was knocking you or the other Mods, John I apologise mate. Its a job I wouldnt do and I think you all do it very well.(even when you don't necessarily agree with me!)

I don't think the rotating Mods would work Mick (I can't believe You would support rotation :D  ) Every new rotating Mod would carry the same baggage as last time, people they like and people they don't like. Any and every problem that wasn't settled to someones liking would be followed by PM'S to the REAL Mods or to their "Mod mate". Old scores would be blown up and it would all end in a war of attrition with sides being taken and much publicised "I'm off" threads. Besides which, we will never win the league with rotation.

Better to appoint a real Mod then we all know were we stand.

My friends who I would like to see as Mods are .......  :D

People need to realise that a lot of the work the mods do basically goes unnoticed. I mean I wasn't on here when the invasion kicked off but that doesn't mean that I'm not doing anything. When I log on in the morning, especially if I have a day off, 20-30 minutes of my time is usually spent replying to requests or queries or sifting through complaints and deleting posts.

As for rotating mods, I think we should rotate them for 99 days in a row before sticking with the same bunch on the 100th day. :D

john why dont you read what i actually have written, its not a personal attack on you without justification.

the fact is another poster complained about something and you f*cked him off with sarcasm without addressing the issue, this is the fact john, and then you complain about it.

the fact is you are a mod so when moderating is needed or a poster complains about something then you as a mod should deal with it without getting @rsey about it, and if you can't do that then is there really any point you being a mod?
I feel that you don't want the hassle, so don't do it.

as for st mick what i said rung true by his own admittance, so i don't see why you rose that issue.

and any problems caused by me recently where as a result of ignorance from admin and the mods, when i asked a question none of you wanted to know, like i said at the time a simple answer would have solved everything

so a question john, when there is a complaint do you think it right to either.............
a) deal with it
b) ignore it
c) take the p*ss and be sarcastic

it seems lately you take the last option and maybe thats not the best option when trying to deflect flak from other posters

Also, and back to the original point of the thread, if a lockdown means that new members can't join for a day or so after the CL draw or similar then that makes perfect sense to me.

i know you don't want to mick, but the fact is that as a mod thats what you need to do.

personally i think you p*ss all over the other mods as you deal with things without stamping your feet and trying to tell us you have a life blah blah blah.

seriously guys i don't know why you complain about it, nobody is forcing you to do it, nobody is asking you to do anything other than moderate the forum and if sometimes there is more to do then that can lay at either our door or your door, and ultimately it lays at your door.

you let banned posters back you can't complain when the mess up, you let all and sundry join and post when there is no mod which could basically mean someone could log in and give you hours of work when you log in.

the simple fact is that more mods are needed

I see your point but

Like in real football if you don't tinker too much there shouldn't be a trouble. Meaning we already have a spine of mods that have shown  to be able to be impartial, if you just rotate the guys that are helping, and this guys do not take sensitive decissions (those who require taking sides) there shouldn't be much of a trouble with rotation. :)

so whats the outcome?   :D

1. the mods don't have time to cover the forum 24 hours a day,
2. it would be wrong for them to have set times for each mod.
3. there are times when a mod is needed but there are none online,
4. there are occasions where we get invaded and there are no mods online
5.this causes friction sometimes
6. increasing the number of mods will still not guarantee full coverage

so the thread was about lockdowns, good idea or not? i think yes at certain times   :D

Back to topic anyways....
Yesterday I read a locked topic it was of a very dispicable nature and really bad insults to Bad Bob from that Oasis pr!ck it knocked me sick if Im honest this topic should be deleted asap.

Oh and on the subject of the CL draw I am possitve the gobshite wopdongs that joined the forum where the last thing on the MODS minds when the draw was made.
I came on here to post after the draw and didnt expect it either.
So they are not mindreaders just normal blokes like myself :D
