Lockdowns

the forum runs along fine sabre and then every now and again it flares up, its then when we can see if its being moderated properly.  but what i say rings true, nobody forces people to be mods so if they don't want to do it they can quit.  most of the time we moderate ourselves by the way we behave, but there are times only a mod can deal with things like bannings and clearing up the mess from visitors, its at times like that we can see there are not enough mods.

i thinks its just down to the fact that things are not dealt with quickly enough that gets to some posters, and thats were more mods would come in handy or mods who want to be mods.

to be fair and nothing against stmike but he does no modding and john i think can't be @rsed with the whole thing

Lets keep this in perspective , the thread was started in response to the turkish invasion . Some members apparently weren't to bothered by it whilst many others (myself included) took great exception to it.

Many of those who were not happy about the way the turks were carrying on were staggered that not one single mod stayed online after the draw was made when previous experience of invasions by Wopdongs after a draw must have surely taught us the we should now expect such invasions again and again.

I think it has been stressed that this is not an attack on the mods lack of performance , it's only a recognition that there are times when due to our current mods being engaged in other activities ie getting on with their lives, it might be a good idea if we had a couple more mods available to pick up the slack.

Failing that then perhaps the idea of a lock down prior to a draw or match involving foreign opposition may be the way to go, although I for one would be sorry to see us cut out the decent foreign fans who would like to participate in some discussion and banter.

Peewee, to say I've never done anything relating to modding is a bit harsh. At times a few months back, there were times when I was the only mod on here when those idiots were posting porn links all over the site and I had to singlehandedly clean the place up.

I do admit that I haven't been on here as much as I used to be in the past though, mainly due to my restricted internet access at the moment. Hopefully this will change in the next few weeks.

As for more mods, I'm all for it.

If we win the league a permanent lock down should be brought into place for all the Glory Hunting fuckers that will be trying to jump on the bandwagon.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

There is no need for lockdowns IMO.

The mod's do a decent job as it is, they could just do a little bit more at times.

Apart from the odd bitter here or there, and the odd stone faced liar it's all reasonably good.

After all, it's only the internet, nobody died.

I think most people agree that the mods do a great job when they are on hand, I just think they need more help at times, especially in the late evening and night. I also think the number of threads becoming spoiled because of stupid arguements has become very irritating as well. It just puts people off posting, and I think it may be one of the reasons quite a few of the better posters seem to have disappeared recently.

For those who criticise me, fair enough, I can take it.  If you're not happy, tell me.  Sometimes I rightly can't be arsed with this place (I come on here to enjoy it like everyone else, not just to sift through posts to see if I can clean any shit up) and I don't see why it should matter that I have signatures switched off.  Am I missing out on something?  I know I built half of them but I've got no intention of loooking at them anymore.

Touché to Kharaz for the alcohol comment.  Very good comeback. :D  I DO have a social life outside this forum though believe it or not.  I do get blitzed a lot with my mates.  I don't get much free time, there are not enough hours in the day for me unfortunately and if I don't feel like coming on here because I've got other things to do, I won't.

I'd like to know exactly what people think this place requires in a moderator?  Some "superfan dictator moderator" like off RAWK or something wher everything is taken far too seriously?  You're best looking elsewhere if that's what you expect from me then...  Other than that I'm happy with my contribution.  Sorry you're not.

Like I said in my sarcastic comment, I sleep well at night.

Still think there's some over-reacting going on (including from me spending this long explaining myself).

A few more like yourself would be fine Jmac , with the proviso that between them they're able to spend a bit more time in here, especially on what we can all forecast will be "Wopdong Nights"

i have pmd supersub with who it is john, and my comment about signatures, well if someone writes something wrong in their sig, surely you as a mod should be able to see that so you can deal with it.

my comments about you not being @rsed about modding are based on your attitude to it. if there is a complaint then deal with it, rather than come back with sarcasm which doesn't solve the issue, it makes it worse. you response always seems to be 'i have something better to do or i am getting p*ssed', i don't see how that solves anything to be honest and like i say if you can't be bothered then don't do it and let someone do it who will put more into it.
