Seriously, some perspective by certain people is needed and it's not as bad as people make out on here.

And it's always nice to know that we're doing a shit job, we can't be told that enough you know...*

I was trying to be ironic by saying that perspective is needed and that all is good, then complaining about MY woes in the next breath.  I was poking fun at myself for the benefit of the member(s) who have lost the respect they once had for me so deeply.

If there was only something I could do....  :D

I have great respect for mods, as Peewee was made one I also have great respect for him. The day they dismissed him without good reason they lost my respect, and the other night with the turks justified my decision.

Fuckinhell I won't sleep tonight now...

Im pretty sure you will, alcohol has that tiredness effect.

so lets just get this straight, members are complaining about a problem on the forum and the attitude of the mods is 'f*ck it' and deal with it sarcastically. and then to say he has sigs switched off.

there are 4 mods here and i think only two of them can be bothered with the forum to be honest. jonny cant be bothered, thats obvious and st mick has never done anything even related to modding.

so guys when people complain about the forum, its pretty pathetic of you to behave like there is no problem when as a mod you should do something about it.

no doubt i will get some pathetic response rather than a moderated response from the mods about how to deal with a specific problem.

that gents is where the forum falls down sometimes. so in answer to the question about should there be a lockdown, probably not, just some fresh mods who are prepared to moderate

No pathetic response from me, I highlighted Johnny Macs response and its obvious to all how this forum is run. Shame really, so many great people with great comments and yet so few mods who can handle what is going on.

i am a bit tetchy this morning   :D

but seriously either moderate the forum or don't moderate the forum, jon if you don't want to do it then don't do it, st mick there is no point you doing it as you don't do anything. let people do it who actually want to do it.

During the time i have read and then joined the forum i have found the level of moderating fine, but its clear that there are not enough Mods, too often there has been work for them and there is no one about. Some Mods are on here a fair amount others rarely, thats where admin should come in and make the changes.

With regard to lockdowns, IMHO not required, there has been the odd decent discussion, eg the Villa fan (unfortunatly the childish remarks then, were coming from some of ours). More mods, actually Modding (word?!), would allieviate any reason for a lockdown.

i think the word is moderating   :D

i know i was @rsey earlier but what i say rings true, if people don't want to be mods then there is no need for them to be mods, give the positions to people who want to do it or have more time to do it. if you are going to complain about being a mod then don't be one.

if you do it then you have to expect critisism from time to time and i don't see sarcasm as the best way to deal with a member who has a valid point.

the problem is here is there is no real set pattern to the mods, its moderated depending on the mods mood as opposed to following the forum rules.

it also moderated depending on who the poster is, i will be honest i got away with murder on here recently because i am a long time poster and i think the mods knew i was treated harshly, while others don't get away with the same things sometimes.

to be honest there are no real problems on the forum at the moment, one poster likes to be argumentative and he is an alter ego that is obviously banned and should be banned again, but again leniency has allowed him back and he is ruffling feathers. apart from him we only get problems when we get invaded and there is no mod online to deal with it.

I for one, think that the mods are doing a good job, despite I think they need help because the forum is huge. And I'm grateful for their work. I hope nobody considers it árselicking, because they don't need it and I don't need it. I don't want their position, I don't fear their cards (it takes much to receive a card here if you're a regular member) and they won't pay me for saying this.

it also moderated depending on who the poster is, i will be honest i got away with murder on here recently because i am a long time poster and i think the mods knew i was treated harshly, while others don't get away with the same things sometimes.

And they did it because they were actually moderating. As you know back then I favoured giving you a card (I stress back then), you thought you were harshly treated, and what the mods did was the correct thing, to put in the middle of the two sides, looking for the peace of the forum.

And it seems they did a decent job, because right now there are not for whatever reason turmoils of that kind in the forum and the quarrels dissapeared suddenly. Surely the job the mods did asking me to focus on football and forget the quarrels, and asking the other side to moderate their attitude aswell was the correct thing to do, as the forum has recovered a normality.

Taking an impartial decission to moderate a forum even if you personally would do another is a must to be a good mod, and in that sense the current staff is spotless.

Imagine a mod is a friend of yours (you have a few here) and you start discussing with that argumentative poster. He/she shouldn't ban that poster just because you think he's an alter ego and your voice is respected here. He should ban him only when he has evidence he is an alter ego. Even if he/she also *suspects* the same thing you do. Doing that is not as easy as it seems, and the current mods do that well.
