Thanks for the responses guys. The main point I was trying to make is that LFC have always had a certain style of play and it was the players that fitted in to that not the other way around, Greece are a fine example of this. The other point was to say that some people don't know the difference between fan and supporter. I know football has changed but winning is winning and I think and hope that Rafa is the man to bring back this mentality, whoever he signs his past record and the style of play of his teams fit in perfectly to the liverpool way. Most of the negative reactions were anticipated and many justified the motive of the post. YNWA

Your eloquence and insight give us all something to ponder upon and brings to this forum a level of debate and wisdom rarely seen.  :D
Great Posts
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

And judging by his squad for the wxm game rafa thinks too. The academy is a great resource for any manager to have and as long as RB gets on with Heighway better than GH did then it could bear fruits. I really hope so as the pride of local players will always be greater than imports, not a criticism just a fact.

The Liverpool way is to get the right players. Not always the best known players. If they are well known, wonderfull, if not... who cares as long as they are class?

How many here wanted Hyypia when he was signed? Answer... ZERO. I'd never heard of him. What a player he turned out to be. I'd always liked Henchoz, i'd only heard of Babbel, never really noticed him, but he came with a reputation.

If i was in charge now, i'd get my system sorted. It would be based on getting the best out ot Owen, Cisse, Kewell, Gerrard, Riise and Hyypia. The rest i would be looking to replace unless they could convince me they were good enough to keep there places. One by one i'd look for certain types of players that could offer me what i lacked, then intigrate them into the team, perfecting a tactic and making it work.

If Benitez does that using his knowledge of th game, i'm sure he won't go far wrong.

you are a major tosspot and Ive never liked you! You think you are older and wiser than you actually are! When you reach the age of 30 you will realise that you made a a big mistake!

How the f**k do you know what the Liverpool way is?, you werent even born when Liverpool were winning European Cups you knob. You were only just learing how to read and write (if indeed you can) when the likes of souness took over management 14 years ago or so, so all youve ever known is ****** footy and what your parents tell you about the Liverpool of old.
the players you mentioned above Viera, Melchiot, Gallas, Anelka etc(didnt anelka play for real madrid, el thicko???), A lot of these players are Internationals and very well known on the continent, and a lot of them were playing for top clubs abroad before moving to the premier league.

you dont think its possible for me to be a bodybuilder? why not. is it not possible to lift weights then?
Listen I could use u as a weight in one of my sessions and swing you around, then throw you in the mersey!
Just so you can have your first wash!

I think you are getting way out of your league in terms of knowledge and everything else.

i dont care whether people like me or dont like me in these forums, ase they are annonymous. but im sure in equal measure, they dont like you much too either as you are an annoying little sh*t!

Ill post here for as long as i like!!! if they ban me, Ill come back again! If they ban  my IP address, ill buy a laptop and use that!

You sound, by your posts like, a cocky ,mouthy little scally, if i was to picture you in my head, with yer shell suit and trainees, on the rob and shoplifting! and yes I didnt like Houllier cause he is a Loser and was dragging the club down. Murphy is kack and will be found out very soon By benitez.

Listen, whether you believe it or not, I weigh 16 stone and im no Anfield Pie eater with a big gut either, and will take you out anytime! going to the City Game are you? opening home game of the season. Where u sitting? Id love to know

Im pumped up, fired up and ready to go!

all 220 pounds.

didn't realise you were a fat ******!

No serious, i personally haven't got nothing personal against you, but i can see you digging yourself into a pretty big hole, one i will assume would be you grave if you don't shut it.

Stu is a bit of a knob, but keep it to yourself, he probably knows himself anyway and is feeding of replies like yours. On the other hand, Leon is a good guy who you just disrespected!

Just have a bit of dignity to post sensibly mate.

Big Names or Cheaper players with potential? It is impossible to say isn't it. There is no formula. Many players have flopped in one club and been successful somewhere else - how about Henry? Many players have become superstars coming through youths systems and stayed at one club - Gerrard, Owen, Giggs and the like. The fact is if a player, no matter how big or small his reputation is, has some ability, good coaching and works hard he can have a huge impact on any team. Raffa the Gaffer seems to be able to bring the best out of his players, he did so at Valencia I trust his judgements. If he brings in a huge name and that player works hard and plays for the team and the club and brings success I will not argue, that is as much the Liverpool as anything if you ask me.

Liverpool way???

Football has evolve. Buying and selling of players has nothing to do with Liverpool way.
Before modern football, there are players that give 100% to the little they earn a month. Anyone that is able to play for a club wll give 100%, be it lfc or everton.

Now modern football is about club mangement, scouting, and players transfer market. We can get the best players with the money if we have it. We just don't have enough cash. I will like to have some super players if we can afford it. That will always bring something special to the team.

Super buys or cheap buys.  Benitez or Stachan?

The Liverpool way I see is the desire to play and playing to win.
