Torres, Crouch, Voronin and Kuyt are 4 really good strikers. If we put Babel in there with them (he considers himself a 9 more than a winger) then we have 5 great strikers. Who cares which one of them is better? Voronin has had a fantastic start this season and all those who doubted him when we got him (most people did not even mention him when talking about our strikers) are now thinking he was not a bad piece of business. Sure, Kuyt does not score as many goals as everyone wants him to but that does not take away all he does for the team. The fact that we have so many good players fighting for the striker position, along with other great players competing for positions in other areas is only good for the team.

Any combination of our 5 stikers up front is good enough to take any team in the league. Last season we had Crouch, Kuyt and Bellamy (the first two are apparently now considered our weakest strikers while the third one was not good enough) and they caused all sorts of trouble to top teams like Chelsea, Barcelona, Arsenal, PSV, etc. We now have more players in that position, each with different techniques and each bringing different options up front. Getting rid of any of them just because "he is not as good as another striker in our team" would be ridiculous IMO.

Dead useful skills those were, too, when running down blind alleys.  Ohhh, the goal kicks he would generate for us!  Get a grip...Kuyt's a much better forward than Baros.

Whatever.  You said he was a better dribbler and implied he was a better forward.  Yet, Baros was sent packing and Kuyt's been central to Rafa's plans for the last two seasons so I think that tells it's own story.  But, if you think differently, I'm not that fussed about it to be honest.

maybe by saying that i like him and that he is a better dribbler implies that i think he is a better player then kuyt but thats not the case. kuyt is more complete. the diff is, i like milan. thats all. im not fussed either.  :)

this season momo is more of a goal threat than kuyt    :D

LOL

That's harsh, mate. But funny.

I just don't think Kuyt is getting the rub of the green at the moment. He gets as many chances as Torres has been getting so far this season, but oddly enough, they both share the same trait of not being able to put them away cleanly, or just being plain unlucky. I like Kuyt for his industry. When he plays, he makes it so hard for teams to build an attack from the back up, and this only goes in our favour. He makes it so hard for teams to play against us, so any critisim of him is a little bit too nieve and far too harsh. If only we had players like him that worked their b@llocks off a few years ago for the shirt. He's well worthy of our cause.

I'm happy with the form of all three of Torres, Kuyt and Voronin so far this season. Hopefully Crouch will get a decent run-out tomorrow and will get himself a goal or two. As I've said elsewhere, when he plays, he needs to impress just to get himself on the bench right now, but the same goes to whoever plays right now.

They all offer something a little different, and that's brilliant for the club. Whoever's on the bench can come on and bring something new to a game. And how good is it to have four strikers, all of whom you'd happily have in the first 11? Even those that bemoan Kuyt's lack of sustained goal threat can't deny that he brings real verve to our attacking play.

A lot was said about the Tottenham strike foursome of Berbatov, Keane, Defoe and Bent pre-season. Personally I think our four offer more in terms of all-round threat, vision, and ability to bring the midfielders into the game. Sissoko's goal was no fluke, and I reckon his second goal for the club isn't too far away either. Likewise, I can see Pennant getting himself a half dozen or so such is the way we're able to bring all of our attacking players into the game in the final third. Before the season started we were hoping the signing of Torres would bring this, but it's far from his contribution alone that's seeing these chances get made. Voronin's weighted roll to Momo on Saturday a prime example.

Right now Veronin looks more sharp and more clean cut focused in front of goal then either Kuyt and Torres ,no doubt Kuyt is the hardest worker and his assistance to the pressure in front is the best ,but his main job should be scoring goals and we should not forget that...

Biggest concern on my part is sir peter ,if i understrand Rafa ,crouch is going to have a long and painful winter on the bench...looks like rafa was never 100% confident in the boy and now that veronin proves a dead on bingo ,peter might suffer.

Personaly i like him better then any of the other three ,no one beats crouch.

I don't doubt that Voronin has ability and can do extremely well for us. He has proved that he is more than capable of playing well for us in his relatively short time here, and the 2 goals are a nice added bonus. However the sudden bias against Kuyt now, because Voronin's scored twice is laughable.

I remember when we announced we signed Voronin people were saying it was a bad transfer etc, I didn't but I won't be saying he's a better option than Kuyt now after 4 games into the season.

Kuyt is a very accomplished footballer in my eyes. He's not just a "workhorse" as some have suggested. He always finds space off the ball, is good at linking up the play, he can actually pass the ball very very well and his work ethic means the opposition ALWAYS have something to deal with. The only slight knock in his game is that he is having trouble emulating his scoring record from Holland. I have no doubt that will come.

People's views change like the wind here.

very, very good post raffa, totaly agree mate
kuyt is the sort of player i will always want to see playing
for us, his movement off the ball is a joy to watch
as i think he brings other playes into our attacking
play, he reminds me in some way of keegan, in his
work in & around the box, for me he will play
a massive part in ensuring not only his own ability
will improve, but also help torres & voronin settle in very quickly as he will not only score alot of goals this season
but provide & set up goals for his strike partners
like he did extremley well for crouch last season!
& i still say kuyt & crouch can offer a fantastic
partnership this season when needed.
