We all dream of a team of carraghers - Get wel soon

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby woof woof ! » Sun Aug 26, 2007 5:16 pm

Liverpool have confirmed Jamie Carragher sustained a broken rib during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Sunderland.
Tests on Sunday morning also revealed the defender has developed a pneumothorax . It is unclear at this stage how long Carra will be out.

Pneumothorax

Dr Rob Hicks

This condition's symptoms - which include shortness of breath - are caused by air entering the pleural cavity in the lungs. In severe cases, pneumothorax can be life threatening...............

i'm no doctor but does this mean Carra's broken rib may have punctured his lung ?

No wonder he looked so f'ucked off with Rafa and co when they
finally after several minutes of dithering got him off the pitch .

Yep - they've just reported a collapsed lung on Five Live.

Gutted for him. Get well soon Carra.

Get well soon Carra, this is a major set back for the team. the lad is a natural leader and plays with his badge on his heart.

Hope to see him back real soon:(

Sh!t, here's hoping it's not severe.

It depends on the severity of the collapsed lung, but sometimes it can take 2 or 3 weeks to repair.

If it's very severe, which I doubt it is given it was only discovered after tests on Sunday, then it would require a lot longer.

The broken rib will probably have him out for about 6-8 weeks.

It just depends on the severity of it.

I remember earlier on in the piece, when the speculation was rife over who we needed/what positions wanted cover in and stu (amongst others) put up a strong shout for the need to recruit another defender...

Don't see anyone in a position to question that rationale now.

Get well soon Carragher, your loss might just prove to be a critical blow depending on the number of games missed/rehabilitation etc.

It's a big blow, but I think we'll cope. If we manage to do well without Cara, then it bodes well for us as a team in general. So long as he comes back when we need him for big games is all I'm worried about. Desperatly unlucky too, as usual, to be injured by your own keeper in such a way.

get well soon Jamie

but this is what Rafa has told the bbc

"Jamie is in a lot of pain and I'm not sure if either will be involved against Toulouse. We'll wait and see."

Come on Rafa i think Jamie needs a bit of a rest lol
i can just see Rafa turning up at hospital. "hi Jamie , so i hear you have a collapsed lung ? well sorry lad you have another, so i will see you at training in the morning".

sad to say Jamie might be out for upto 10 weeks if not more.

Bad news, this, but if we had to pick a time to be without him this would be it: the Chelsea match is behind us and we have a run of very winnable games in the league.  We can probably cope without him against Toulouse and then it'll be another month or so before the first CL group games.  Let's just hope nothing happens to Agger and that Sami is ready to go for Tuesday.
