good post Zarabe, the only difficulty with sueing fans would be indentifying them and then tracking them down.  its so much easier to do this sort of thing to players as they are high profile people.

Good idea.. but I think Woof Woof's idea (his banal and fllaccid comments.. only kidding Woof Woof) makes sense.. if clubs were held accountable for the behaviour of fans then the issue would be taken more seriously.

I think Diouf is a jerk for doing what he did .. but the situation has been addressed ..  a dangerous precendent could be set .. ???

£50,000 for being spat at !!!!!  I wonder how the guy who got kicked by Cantona feels 10 years ago feels.  If a spit is worth 50 thousand, surely a kick is worth 250 thousand.  Although, considering it was a two footed lunge he'd probabaly have got 500,000.

There is something in civil law called "opening the floodgates".

This means that a court will reject a claim if accepting it means the courts may be swamped with like claims. for example if court allows this claim, the judicial system may be clogged with people who have been spat at suing the offender, the courts dont want court time tied up with minor civil claims.  I doubt this will see the inside of a courtroom and there is a hope frome the n0b that diouff will just pay up.

Also someone who is traumitised (post traumatic stress) would not turn up at anfield two weeks later as a guest of the person who traumitised him. he cant be very scared really can he?

Interesting.. does that mean the case could be thrown out..???  If so should Diouf hold out and not pay the Nob ???

he should hold out, the only problem is if the court decides to set a precedent and find against diouff, he could then be forced to pay more (or less) but its unlikley. they are just hoping thet diouff and LFC will pay up without any extra costs involved(lawyers etc). to spit on someone is actually common assault and thet can be taken to a criminal court, but it appears here he is claiming for the distress caused rather than the actual act. by attending anfield two weeks later he seems to have blown his case anyway. i think we should just stop worrying about this nob and concentrate on next season  :D
