Proper order to, God help the poor club that get him next week....

Referees' chief Keith Hackett has confirmed Rob Styles will not take charge of a match next weekend after his performance in the game between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield.

Styles controversially awarded Chelsea a penalty which enabled the Blues to equalise Fernando Torres' opener, before causing confusion by brandishing a yellow card at Michael Essien - who had already been booked - but insisting it was John Terry being yellow-carded.

And Hackett, general manager of Professional Game Match Officials Limited, told Sky Sports News: Accountability exists and we, the PGMOL, do expect referees to get big decisions correct.

"On this occasion it was wrong and therefore Rob will not be officiating next weekend."

It would have been better overall if he had the bollox to come out infront of the camera's himself. Its a start, but the whole episode is riddled in cowardice.

He should have to pay a fine and miss 3 matchs worth of pay and we should have the option of a replay of the match or they should just give us the 3 points !

Look folks, I wasn't happy at the dicision Styles made yesterday, but were we complaining about the free-kick Gerrard was given on the opening day which we scored from? NO. That wasn't a free-kick and that cost Villa any points, at least we got a point. Styles gave Gerrard the pen on the opening game against Sheff Utd last year but again we didn't complain then, football is all about luck. If refs make errors then so be it, obvious ones like Styles' against us, shouldn't go unpunished, but we can't have it both ways. If we're moaning over losing 2 points, then we should also be moaning we took a point off Villa, due to another reffereeing co.ck up. Lets put it behind us and just concentrate on Sunderland, I'm sure they'll be wrong dicisions given in our favour in the duration of this season and I'm sure we'll be on the wrong side of certain dicisions this season, that's football.

2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Doesn't make me feel much better, it's just that they've done the right thing, not doing so would have been an scandal.

I JUST HOPE we don't have to remember this mistake at the end of the season.

too be fair petrov on gerrard was more of a foul then finnan on malouda and the difference is:

we deserved the three points at villa who were given a life line themselves with a dodgy penalty

yesterday we were robbed of a deserved 3 points by one of the poorest decisions i have ever seen

At least it wasn't given at 1-1 with 2 minutes to go.

It's always difficult to take, but these things do tend to even themselves out. If the free-kick vs Villa hadn't been given, and Styles had got it right yesteday, we'd still be on the same number of points. Yesterday we were robbed of the chance of putting a marker down, and that's what smarts today.

I'm always of the "swings and roundabouts" philosophy. Things do even themselves out over the season. To the letter, we shouldn't of had that free kick last week and also Chelsea shouldn't of had the pen. Such is life. It just hurts more when it's the "big" games.
Father Hackett has said he's having a meeting with all of the refs tomorrow to discuss other incidents. I thought the ref of the Bolton/Pompey match was awful. Pompey's second came after Anelka was blatantly dragged down and no free kick awarded. Then Benjani was fouled by the last defender and no free kick given when it should of been a red card. The Healy goal for Fulham was clearly over the line too.
It was certainly a black weekend for the bastards in black.
