Because of people like him, there was almost no racial tension in one of the most diverse communities in the capital. But you did get the skinheads and they kept smashing the high windows of the community hall with bricks and whatever else. So rather than wasting money on glass, my dad had that unbreakable clear plastic stuff put in (its called poly-something). All those in the club went to run out but they had to unlock the doors and when they eventually got outside they found a bollard with a lump of concrete at its base that had been ripped out of the road lying on the pavement next to a small pool of blood and a bloody trainer. Basically, one of the skinheads had tried to throw this bollard through the window, not knowing that it was now made of an unbreakable plastic and it had bounced back and landed on his foot. They never had any problems at the hall after that.
