I was personaly sickened when he got job for england manager i would like to say to FA well done for picking another total sh.it manager year after year you prove how england fails at the very top level due to incompatince of FA.

I have never seen a manager go into the most powerful job in english football with such little merit.

Get him out now before it is to late.

carra i feel sorry for you having to play in a era of total gobsh.it managers we all know what a great player you could have been for england please i hope it dont get you done to much just keep doing ya thing for liverpool you are a total legand to us.  :buttrock

Danny Murphy summed the whole situation up pretty well:

'If he does go back in and doesn't play to his normal consistent level, he's leaving himself in for a hell of a battering from people'

I really don't have an opinion or preference on this issue.

I couldn't care if he plays for England or not.  If he wants to then great, however I wouldn't blame him for wanting to concentrate on Liverpool.

Thought Durham was an idiot for calling him a bottler and was funny when Carargher rang up and had a right go back at him. :D

McClaren turned up at Melwood to try and convince Carra to change his mind, and Jamie's told him to do one. Good lad. :bowdown

---------------------
From BBC...

McClaren fails in Carragher bid

England coach Steve McClaren has failed in his attempt to persuade Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher not to retire from international football.

McClaren said of the 29-year-old: "Unfortunately Jamie stayed with the decision to not be involved with us."

And McClaren also conceded that it was "a blow" that injured striker Wayne Rooney faces a two-month lay-off.

However, Michael Owen and David Beckham are set to be involved in the friendly against Germany on 22 August.

Rooney will miss England's crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia in September after suffering a hairline fracture of his left foot.

McClaren added: "Obviously it's a blow because he was looking so fit and well in pre-season. He's a very important player for England.

"I was disappointed on Sunday when I got the call but on Monday we had to move on. We've dealt without him before and we'll have to do so again.

"We've still got Peter Crouch and the likes of Darren Bent, Andy Johnson, Jermain Defoe and David Nugent."

Striker Owen is expected to make his return from a thigh injury in Newcastle's game against Aston Villa at the weekend after playing for an hour in a friendly on Monday.

McClaren said: "I spoke to Owen on Tuesday after he played and he was very buoyant. He's got a few more days training and he will be available at the weekend.

"We have quite a few players in that position - the most important thing is the qualifiers when Michael Owen, Owen Hargreaves, David Beckham will be in better shape."

McClaren is also hopeful that former England captain Beckham will be involved against the Germans, despite only managing 37 minutes of action since joining up with his new club Los Angeles Galaxy.

"We've got to assess that over next few days," added McClaren. "He will be in the squad and I want him to play a part on Wednesday.

"We're keeping in close contact to see his condition. Of course, we would like him to join us on Monday. I spoke to him last week and he is desperate to play for England so it's just a case of getting him fit."

Skipper John Terry should be back from his knee injury for September's competitive games but will definitely miss the Wembley date with Germany.

His absence, along with injuries to Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate, prompted McClaren to make a concerted attempt to try to convince Carragher to reverse his decision to turn his back on his country.

Carragher has said he does not want to be a bit-part player for England.

The centre-half has been a key figure in the Liverpool side that has reached the Champions League final in two of the last three seasons.

But at international level he has found opportunities hard to come by, with Terry and Rio Ferdinand now firmly established as McClaren's first choices.

Carragher was omitted from England's last game, a Euro 2008 qualifier in Estonia, and expressed his frustration at his place in the national team's pecking order.

McClaren said he would not "close the door" on Carragher returning in the future, while also admitted there is a chance Pompey defender Sol Campbell could be recalled.

The coach said Manchester City full-back Micah Richards could be used as an emergency centre-half.

Can only agree with what everyone else has said on here. Fair play to Jamie Carragher for sticking to his convictions and showing McClaren to be the press-lead, incompetent comb-overed :censored: that he is.

His selection policy seems to revolve around reading whatever Fleet Street sh*te is put in front of him every week. I think Gareth Barry is almost tempted to do the same. Though whilst he is probably only worth a place in the squad, Carra has never been given the chance for England, even when on form he has been worth it.

McClaren hasn't got a clue. Looking at England's remaining fixtures, I don't think they have a hope of qualifying. I'm really glad Carra has told him where to go, he knows he's better than the other muppets who get the nod ahead of him. Carra can now join the rest of us Liverpool fans in having a little snigger at Englands expense.

McLaren wants Carra as a utility player, a SUB who can play CB, LB, RB, or even DM. The point is what is in it for Carra? He works hard, plays well and is rewarded by a call-up and place on the bench. And then McLaren doesn't even use him when there's a shortage of CBs! I think I'd leave my company if the office rat got promoted ahead of me.

McLaren had the chance to show appreciation of Carra's ability and he passed on it, now he's suffering the consequences. Carra's been a top CB in the Premiership for years and has made himself available to England. It's not just because I'm biased but frankly the best two English CBs are Carra and Terry, druggie is over-rated and makes too many mistakes as do others who aren't nearly as solid and dependable as Carra. Honestly the way Carra has not been used for England I can't see it actually making a lot of difference, if he were played then it would but since he never gets beyond the call-up then why is McLaren trying to change his mind? ????

if bloody mclaren new anything about football JC would have been given more chances the man defends till he dies and has been for my 10pence worth the best CB in the PL for the last 2-3 years.

Well done JC stuff Mclaren he won't be England manager for long anyway and when we get a coach who knows what the feck there doing JC may well return

In fairness to McLaren though RD he has only been mismanaging England since the last World Cup and has been brainwashed by working under SGE. Thus he is just doing everything the same as the previous ijut and so nothing has effectively changed. See also England and the ECB for the same thing in cricket, different coach but the same load of ballacks
