Feyenoord v liverpool - The last one

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I can't believe how folks here seem to be taking a pre-season game as seriously as those freaking dutch players!
The best result possible from this game is that we did not have injuries, and no red card...
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

After watching the pre-season games I expect us to struggle again this season in the premiership.  No aggression and no creativity...unfortunately, the same old story.

why are so many people judging us on pre season games.  friendlies are just to give people a run out ready for the new season, see who is looking sharp and can play in what positions and to give everyone a game....come the begining of the season the game completly changes with hard tackles more effort etc...we cant judge our season or how its going to b untill our first few premier league games :rasp

One point i agree with you. We should have bought drenthe instead of babel....

He would have cost less....and would have been more of a success.

I know this is my 316th dig at babel... but i am saying it as i see it.

BTW, i think pennant is a good player...yeah he had a poor game yesterday. But come-on, he was our best player in the 2nd half of last season.

you dont have the option to moan yet season hasnt started yet give the team A GOD DAMN :censored: CHANCE YOU CLUELESS TART

really i am fed up with so callled LFC fans having go at team in pre season friendlys

people are unhappy as it seems like we have the same problems as last season.  creativity is still a major problem!  this is why I wanted us to sign a dribbler.  someone who can run at defenders!

I watch us in pre-season and watch Arsenal and it is pretty depressing..

Someone like a certain porto winger ?  :D

After reading this thread, this is one of the few statements that rings true! Really, I know we didn't win, and yes we should have won, but those who are slating the team and speaking of defeatist comments like " Villa will be a draw" and " we've no hope of winning the league" based on this game, should really hang their head's in shame to call themselves Liverpool supporters.

For a start, let me point out the facts. Compare this season's pre season to last years, and you'd be forgiven for thinking we were nothing but a conference side back then. Our bad form pre season last year carried itself into the league. This year we've concided less, scored far more goals, and won the majority of our games and not lost once in full time. That to me speaks volumes of a squad that is still bedding. Another fact about yesterdays game is that Rafa did not field his first choice team. That mixed with an obvious air of pre season caution of not wanting to get injured or carded (that went well) and naturally, we were going to get a very tepid performace. Another thing, we do not have the right to simply walk all over teams no matter who they are. Some people have this preconception of "we are Liverpool, all teams should yield before us" and need to get their heads pulled back out from their a$$holes. It doesn't matter who you play. You still have to beat what is put out in front of you. Feyenoord are not as bad a team as some of you make out. They have some very experienced and talented players in their team, as well as some young and athletic ones. Our players are not super human. It will take them a little bit more time than 90 minutes to find their feet.

One more thing, I'm sure those of you that are slabbering about how poor we supposedly are will no doubt be singing the praises of the players if we do manage to win something big this season, and I suppose that would make you hypocrites. We really do have some very shallow followers in our midst.

I think we are liverpool fans who can say we dont watch the team through rose coloured glasses ! I am sick of reading these so called "die hard" liverpool fans refuse to comment on the performance of the team tonite which was very poor, yes we all are aware it is a pre-season friendly !

Did anyone watch Arsenal in Emirates Tournament ? ( pre-season tourament ).Arsenal are supposed to be a team in decline ! but yet they put in two excellent performances, building confidence and scoring goals.  They beat Inter whom the following week beat the Mancs ! and i quote Wenger: 'There is a great solidarity in the squad now'. This solidarity has come from having a excellent pre-season !

Can anyone else see my point, it is a fresh season, we should of been building pre-season to hit the ground running away to Villa. I have seen all of Liverpool games pre-season and not once have i been that impressed.

As for not wanting to get injured or red carded, the players that took the field last night are aware of competition within the squad this year, no one stood out apart from the usual suspects.  I would of loved to of seen a real solid performance ! but got the usual "Liverpool away form" this has got to change, teams are gonna sit back and defend because they know this works against us and we cant break them down.

I really hope Villa is different ! would of been nice to come off the back of a pre-season with a winning mentality

if the performance was bad or we were missing something, we're gonna lose the league
if the performance was great and we crushed em, we are gonna win the league
thats the mentality of alot of people here (not a gd thing)
but judging from the game last night, we lack creativity. even if we do have creativity i feel its very restricted. and im sick of seeing gerrard ''rescue'' us time and time again.
