it is impossible to tell if a player is overpriced until after the end of the first season. if they have done the business then they are not overpriced. someone like diouf is overpriced because he hasn't produced the goods.

the fact of the matter is that people have known who cisse is for a few years now. nobody had heard of drogba before last season. then he was valued at 4m. a couple of goals in the champions league and uefa cup later and he's worth 24m. unbelievable.

the way i look at it is that both deals are huge finacial risks, considering neither player has played in on of the supposed "big leagues" before.

I think Drogba is a great signing for any club and wouldn't have been unhappy if he had come to us but no way do I rate him at £24 mill.
We got Cisse and at £14 mill he may prove to be Houlliers best gift to us . :)

i dont know which one is better. i think its cisse cos his finishin has got so much class and pace is electric but i'm not sure. cisse scored more goals last season  and drogba got player of the season. well just have to wait for the new season to start.

hello, i'm a french and i would like to apologize for my english :D
drogba did a great season 2 years ago but he was playing for a little club (guingamp), when he arrived in marseille he got the ability to improve a lot and to support pressure, last season he was one of the best 5 strikers in europe, what he did was amazing, he scored in every position, technically he's very good, he's a very atypical forward
cisse has a lot to improve (left foot, heading or technique) but he's younger and faster (more than henry for exemple) i think he needs a little adapation to the team beceause at auxerre he was the only goalscorer, we played in 4-2-3-1, he's very honoured to play with owen, he knows that he has a lot to learn.

i think drogba beacause he was the only good player (with barthez and hemdani) in marseille and they did a good season, cissé had lots of good players to give him the ball like lachuer, akalé or kalou, drogba was alone, did you see the second game between OM and newcastle??
cissé needs 2 or 3 "tries" (i don't know the exact word for occasions)  to score

drogba scored a good goal against newcastle but i dont care- cisse is handling the pressure and i think he will be top class next cisson

for me he's more talented than henry (and i know both since they're 16), he's faster and strongerand he will work hard to improve his lack of technique like henry did, when he's gonna be adapted you will love him, for sure :)

Thanks Iolsi, very valuable insight from France. I must say I haven't seen a lot of Cisse but I was impressed by what I saw of Drogba. The good thing with Cisse as you rightly point out is that age is on his side and he has that valuable raw asset top strikers need to flourish these days....pace.

P.S your English was better than some of the stuff we read!

yeah, good information iolsi. cheers!
Drogbas best asset is his strength and i think it will not be as effective in the epl as in france. as for cisse- you said it- pace. its the reason owen was so lethal and it'll be the same for cisse.
