Liverpool WILL win the league this year but only on one condition. We get more points than all the other sides :D

Seriously though, I think we will win the league, mainly because I think we'll win it every year.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

I know what your saying Lando in a round about way.

But when can we realisticly expect to win the title ? There are far too many excuses these years for Liverpool

Exactly. Arsenal have shown one off successes can be done, how many times do we have to change the players before we get there? Are we constantly going to change things and say the side needs time to settle or go out and buy players good enough not to need that excuse to fall back on.

If we're waiting for the standard to drop it's too late, Houllier should have taken advantage back when 90+ points to win the title were rare. The mancs may find it harder going this season, they had it way too easy last time around and I believe lost only FIVE games with the goners and cheating hammers doing the double over them. I think Pompey were the only other side to get a deserved win over them.

What do we need to do?

1) maintain our home record of the last two seasons
2) score more goals
3) maintain our defensive record
4) win away from home which will come as a result of 2) and 3) above

If we do all of the above then we should be in the picture, thereafter it will come down to smaller things deciding the title. Hopefully the mancs will get their fair share of injuries and get mucked about by the courts over Tevez. They'll perhaps follow Chelsea's lead from last season by selling off crucial squad players and trying to fit the formation to the players - always possible with Hargreaves and Carrick in their squad. And if those teams who talk up their chances of UEFA spots actually take points off them then it could be more open.

I agree with this post whole heartedly but would add one point to your list of "things we need to do" and that is to get more points off Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal.
They always talk about "six-pointers" at the bottom end of the league but they are as crucial at the top.
The season before last (05/06 season) we finished 9 points behind winners Chelsea, we lost to them twice...had we won those two games and all else remained the same we'd have won the league by three points. It's a fine line isn't it?
The absolute fact is that we MUST compete this year, I am not talking about pressure on Benitez or him losing his job if we fail but I truly feel that with the squad we now have we have to be right up there come next May.
I'd sooner we came fourth with a gap to the winners of less than 7 points and us being in the hunt late on than come second and trail by 15 or 20 again.
We can do it, we can win the league and with a slice of luck this could be the season.....I believe anyway!

I think that until Rafa stops poncing around with rotation we won't win the league and that's why this year I believe we won't see any rotation because the league is coming back to Anfield.
