Rafael's answer to alot of questions is the title of this thread.

This says to me he has a desire to learn and wants to see exactly what he's got. Every word i have read has made me more sure we have the right man.

He's not rushing into anything, he's not on about spending stupid money and seems calm and collected.

Discuss....

he does seem to be doing the right thing by carefully studying what he's already got before spending money on new players, however i dont think he should leave it to late to make new signings because they will need time to train and settle with the rest of the squad. on sky sports news the reporter made a comment that rick parrys check book was closed after signing Cisse, this is a bit of a worry to me coz i think we deffo need new players

Benitez seems to be a studious and laid back character who will handle the pressure admirably and so far I have to say his simple philosophy on football is refreshing .

He also says all the right things ,  we don’t need idle boasts like Mourinho bestows  upon the gullible Chelsea faithful .

We want to hear the promise of attractive possession  football being played at Anfield once more, and Benitez has promised  this philosophy will be instilled in all the players who wear the red of Liverpool

Which is confirmation enough for me of the mans credentials .

Also he is not intent on destabilizing the basic structure of the team until he has a firm view of each players capabilities
that makes Benitez very astute .

Rafa's talking instills a feeling of confidence, but we still need a centre-half just to settle my nerves.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW SHINING AT THE END OF EVERY DAY.
THERE'S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW AND TOMORROW IS JUST A DREAM AWAY.

New Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez says that he could snap up 'one or two' more signings minimum before the start of the season, having had chance to assess the players at his disposal.

Benitez is in his second week of pre-season training with Liverpool and so far, the club have been quiet in the transfer market with only £14.5m record signing Djibril Cisse coming in.

But Benitez said today: "At this moment I don't know how many players I will sign. It's up to the squad we have at the moment. If they train well and show me good things then maybe I'll just sign one or two more players."

"I don't have an exact number in mind right now. I have spoken with Rick Parry about the squad and I said to him that it's not important to spend big money, but that it's important to spend money well."

"If you have a table with four legs and they are good legs then you don't need another leg. If we have a team with good players then we might not need others. We'll see."

It was class when he said we have signed the best centre forward from France on the day chelsea paid way over the odds yet again for another over rated player in drogba.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Drogba isn't overated at all.

Overpriced maybe, but overated? You've got to be kidding?

He's probably along with Dion Dublin the only player i've ever seen bully Hyypia. Add that to his obvious pace, ariel ability and good technique and you have a hell of a player.

Drogba cost Chelsea some 24 million but Kezman costs only 5 million. If memory serves me right, transfers to the EPL from the Dutch league is more successful than transfers from the French league (before the players' price is considered) as seen in Van Horseface.

Kezman has been very prolific and Dutch teams has tended to play more similar to the EPL than the French. Having said this, I just hope that Chelski will again get miserly returns from their French-based import and we get a better return on Cisse.

Also I wish Benny has the time to recruit a quick and reliable defender.

Spot on Stu, Drogba is a real handful .
With his signing I think chelsea have dramatically improved their title chances, although I think we got a better deal with Cisse .  :)

Yes, we have the better player in Cisse. Drogba, will be an expensive bench warmer. Chelsea's main strike force will be from Kezman and Mutu.

The only good buy I see Chelsea securing was Arjen Robben. He will be an unique acquisition.

We will see ....

Have to disagree with you there, I expect Drogba to make more appearances than Mutu......
Anyway enough of this talk about chelsea.

I just love the way Chelsea do business. It's a case of, Buy them before someone else does!!

They are ruining football. Cisse is the better buy but I think Kezman is the bargin of the summer ( on paper ).

It's also good to know that RB will rotate our strike force, hopefully he won't get hung up on playing Owen every game. That way he might get a kick up the ar@e and play like we all know he can, Boros will get the games he deserves and Pongolle will get the chance to gain vital experience!! Roll on Aug 14TH.
