I'm white enough to be the KKK poster child and I think it is nuts to see all these pale folk exposing their skin to try and get darker skin, a tan is damaged skin.

Can you imagine telling people with dark skin that they should try to get lighter skin for that Michael Jackson look.

Skin cancer aint cool, at least with liver failure I'll have a load of good stories when I'm older :D

A tan is not a damaged skin. A tan is a protected skin. Protected by melanin. Melanin determines the colour of our skin, and the colour of our hair, and is present aswell in other places of our bodies.

Complete absence of melanin IS a damaged and unprotected skin, the albino people, who are totally unprotected for the agressions of the skin that the sun makes.

And when it comes to sthetics, I don't know anybody who doesn't look better with a good tan. Some people tan too much their skin, but you have to be a lot of time for that. The process of tanning hasn't anything to do with skin cancer, but the incorrect protection against some hazardous sun rays.

And the travestry that Jackson made (ridiculous and pathetic) hasn't anything to do with having a good tan, you're the same guy with a better protection for sun times!! if you don't need the protection (winter) you'll come back to your normal skin (unlike Jackson).

Personally I'd love to be less white than I am, I look a lot better in summer but I lose most of my tan for November.

Some of the english shores you've put are pretty much like the northern Spanish shores, the only difference is that there's not a tourist industry to clean up the beaches, bring quality sand (the sand of the spanish beaches is not of the beach itself, it's brought) and taking care of the polution of the surrounding waters. It's a matter of money actually to have a good beach.

Who knows, if the global weather keeps warming it might be a hell of investment to make such a preparation in the english shores! Even now I think that there must be some places with the same climate we have in the north.

Maybe so, but I won't take part on that! Good old Big Niall said his view, I said mine, and we are all red (as in Liverpool fan) and happy.

 If he says I'm wrong, then again it's his view and that's it!

a few piccies from the weekend. i rented a moped as i normally do and it turned up with tyres on it from a trials bike (they already asked me if i wanted an ATV, a 4 wheel bike) but i said no as the road looked fine and there is only one road on the island. sadly the road was only about one mile long then it becomes a road that even a trials bike would struggle on, basically is was a dirt road that had hills and dips and potholes every 6 inches  :D   and i had my bird on the back.

anyway the beaches were empty   :)

Some cracking photos there peewee, it does look like a great part of the world to live in mate.

The beaches by ours are rough, we have Leasowe, Moreton and West Kirkby (where i have also walked out to Hilbre island many times)

Sabre on the thing about protecting your skin, i worked in Zante about 6 years ago, after about 4 weeks there i had a really dark tan, never wore any protection at all for the rest of my time there, and never burnt, if i was hot i got in the pool or the sea. Then let the sun dry me, is that dangerous or is it because my skin had sort of become used to the weather ?
By the way would love to be back there, what a place (Zante that is)
