Now he may turn out to be useless, but i can't say in all certainty that he is after having seen him on 4 occasions myself. Players are bought on the evidence of many viewings by different scouts and yet after 8 games everyone ready to dismiss the quality seen in him by Rafa. I just think its a little early.

It's not a consensus, it's personal opinion. I feel he is not a player that will be up to the standard we require in future. He will improve, but the ability he has shown does not suggest anything to be optimistic about. No-one can definitively say whether he will reach the level required or not, we are passing our opinion based on what we have seen of him, and it doesn't look promising. He may have only played 8 games, but of those he has done little to alter my view on him. At 21, this season is pivotal for him.

Fergie is trying to play the guilt card now. Basically saying that since Heinze was injured and United stuck by him (as opposed to what? Releasing him while he was hurt?) that Heinze should be loyal to them.

I think while the Tevez deal is still going on Heinze won't be leaving Old Trafford. I think Fergie wants Heninze to help Tevez settle down both being Argentines of course. So if we get Heinze (heaven forbid IMO) or anybody else gets him, it won't be until mid to late August when Tevez is settled.

4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

It is a consensus, i was not referring only to your opinion, but also to all the others in this thread and others that seem to have written him off, again after seeing him for a maximum of 8 games, but probably less.

My personal take on Paletta is he hasn't adjusted to the English way of life. I think the best thing for him to be shipped off to some lower league side i.e. Crewe where he will play the majority of games against lesser quality players. His confidence should rise because he should be performing well at that level, it gives him 1st team experince and it gives him the chance to adjust to way the English game is played.

Well judging by the comments on this thread there isn't a consensus on Paletta, there are a few who are more optimistic about him than others.

Anyway back to HEINZE....

I find it hard to see us signing him unless the situation with the letter that was allegedly was sent is cleared up.. i.e. was it mutually agreed in writing that he is allowed to leave for any club who offers a set price...Even if there is a letter I think manure will play the contract card - if it is not set out in his contract then it is not binding card. It looks like it would take heaven and earth to sign the guy, and the length of the process may leave us with no alternative left back/centre back.

It seems as though this letter from Utd exsists, there has been no denial from Manu, and it has been reported in all the press. I guess that is what Hienze's representatives and lawyers are working on (Rafa Quote), probably going to argue that its is a contract of sorts. I'm sure that should we still want him, and he can be bothered, we'll get him during the last few days of the window. Fergie's just trying to as difficult as possible.

pot kettle black springs to mind considering the problems they are having getting tevez.

fifa should say

" yeah, you can have tevez for £30 million, but you gotta let Heinze go toa  bigger club, a club of his choice"

I would prefer them to say "you can keep Heinze but you have to let Tevez go to a bigger club,Liverpool "   :D

With all United's problems over Tevez, why didn't we go through all this with Mascheranho, there owned by the same company aren't they?

As for Heinze, let them keep him. He's not worth the hassel

heinze is better than anything we got atm...
we would have far better defensive options with him part of the squad...lets not forget hes also a great CB and we seem to need cover in that area...

if we manage to sign him, we'd have

finnan(arbeloa)    Carra(hyypia)        Agger(heinze)      riise/heinze(aurelio)

seems better than what wev got if you ask me...
and im sure heize can and will become 1st choice oncce he settles in and starts showing the form that made him one of the best defenders for manutd in the past years !

I wouldn't swap Heinze for either Carra/Agger and at left back Riise may not be the best, but his form in pre-season has looked good and I think Riise gives us more attacking options. Keep Heinze at Old Trafford.

How far are we classing recent years. Becuase I wouldn't have Heinze in United's best 6/7 defenders over the last 10 years. That list would be Pallister, Bruce, Irwin, Neville (cu.nt), Stam, Ferdinand, Vidic. So Heinze looks good against the likes of David May/Ronny Johnsen and Sylvester? I'm sure Phil Babb would look good against those 3.
