Personally, i don't think this place is in need of any sort of massive overhaul as such. It's suffering at the moment because football wise we're in quite an unusaual place. There's no football going on (from what i've seen of this pre-season you can't call it football) and the club have miraculously tied up all their transfer business nearly a full-month before the season starts (pinches self). hence, there is basically F-all to talk about.

The only things i would neccessarily change would be to put a post or time-span on newbie thread-starting rights, nothing too prohibitive, say 100 posts or 2 weeks. I would also be in favour of getting a couple more mods in town but who would want to do the job? It looks like a fu.c.k.ing nightmare!

I'd be quite happy for Woof, Leon or a handful of others to do the job but Leon would have to start posting about football again as a condition coz i can't remember the last time you did mate?

As for the seperate sections, the majority of them are dead it's true but who cares? i don't go in em  :D

I've looked at a few of the other sites but i can't get into RAWK but that's probably coz i like and look out for so many of the posters on here. As for RAOTL, i popped on there for the first time the other night, maybe i was navigating wrong but the site is a :censored:.in mess.

From what everyone's said I don't think there needs to be wholesale changes.

1) The mods should stay at the numbers that they are. Too many cooks and all that.

2) All build up to games and in game chat should be in the LIVERPOOL GAMES SECTION. It will mean its used a heck of a lot more.

3) Lose the World Cup 2006 section.

4) Lose the Kop section

5) Mods to do weekly checks on the stickies (re Micheal shields collection at WEST HAM game etc )

6) All transfers to be in the rumours section UNTIL they are pernament.

Can we get a general consensus on this?

1/ I think we need another Mod to look after General Chat and to tidy up the threads a bit more.

Agree with the rest mate, but would add a 2 weeks before starting a thread limitation on new members. Maybe a match day freeze on new members as well.

thats good, but not enough in my opinion. I would definately agree with point 6 - but change point 2

I like this site, i like the people posting on it, have been reading on here since 2005 and joined in Jan 2006, posting over 1000 times. I'm not the most profilic of posters, or the most thought provoking, but i do enjoy my time spent reading and contributing to this forum.

I would like to see it simplified down even more:

maybe something like....

------------------------------

-LFC general discussion
-The rumour mill
-Hillsborough

-General Chat
-Introductions

-other domestic football (to include prem and euro leagues)
-international football

-------------------------------

so all games would be discussed in lfc gen discussion as they have been over the last season, all discussion of players and the kop can go in that same folder

i'm not sure what to suggest about the polls - apart from the rather infamous will we beat blackpool thread, none of the poll threads ever manage more than 40 odd replays - maybe they could be merged into one section? - or just left as it is as i dont think they do any harm.

I like that above cause there's 8 sections (if you include the polls as one) rather than the 13 we have at the moment! - its all then nice and simple, - very straight forward - easier to know what goes where, and easier to moderate.

Not being funny but can't you just get rid of the unneeded sections?

You are the day to day admins on here and you know the score.

If you are that worried he will have a go for deleting the sections cant you just hide them so normal members cant see them, then if he kicks off, you can unhide them?

the mods on here can't delete sections of the forum. in theory we could delete every thread in the world cup 2006 section but the section of the forum will still be displayed on the main page.

as mods, we only have power to move, merge and delete posts and threads. only chris (lfc) can actually change the forum layout but he's hardly ever logged on here.

I've seen a couple of criticism comments on LFC. I for one, I'm grateful. When I was (unfortunately) a mod here I could see how he was working on a whole new board better than Ikonboard. He had to deal with this complicated board that's run by CGIs and he has implemented many patches so that the spammers cannot post etc. His work is often unnoticed, but at the end of the day he provides us a free service, and a forum that you lot miss much when a system down keeps us from logging in to the forum. I cannot ask him aswell to be permanently logged on here, FWIW when I PMed him he always answered, and was always wishing to hear new ideas to improve the site. I had to say this.

As for Rafa's comments, well, I agree most of them but the point number one I don't agree. I think a huge forum like this needs more moderators, and I think LFC needs more help. Too many cooks and all that? well the fact that I quitted my modship and the fact some important members thought my modship was cráp -- for whatever reason, it's human to have an opinion--, doesn't mean it's going to happen with every mod you put. I admit my modship book was different and maybe too heavy for what you've been used to, but I think others can do a work a la big mick or jonnymac perfectly.

Well somethings gotta give, I appreciate the time LFC and mods put in but the forum needs to change for the good.

Yeah ok it's the summer but I don't really think thats an excuse for all the spam members and the sections which aren't needed :(
