Back to Heinze

I actually don't want him. He is a very good player indeed, an excellent tackler and very good defencively, but do we really need another left back when we already have aurelio and riise?Whats also good about heinze is that he can play center back, but judging from performances playing in the center of defence he was average.

Left back is not an issue, we already have good players in that position, lets concentrate on getting a quality center back and a quality winger.

Yes Paul, and I tend to lean towards your view of the lad , so far he hasn't been good enough BUT although not one of the "In Rafa we trust " brigade I do acknowledge that Rafa's evaluation of a player is more astute than most on this forum, and re-reading Rafa's comments on Palleta has prompted my suggestion that perhaps the lad just needs more patience from us and games from Rafa.

If Palleta lives up to his much acclaimed potential we could be looking long term at a central pairing of Palleta and Agger after Sammi moves on and Carra's legs start to go.(Hopefully Carra's legs will run forever

Not bothered one way or the other about Heinze . As has been said, prior to his injury he would have been a fabulous addition to our squad but he hasn't been the same player since, thats why he's lost his place and Old red nose is prepared to let him leave.

The biggest plus about signing him would be the p'iss we could take out of the scum , but I'm not sure if we would have the last laugh.

I think Rafa looks like a spoiled baby by threatening action if Manure refuse to sell him to us. He is their player and they should do what they want with him.

I know some hate to criticise Rafa but his whining on this is uncalled for, a waste of money for a 29 year old full back.

I don't think he is whining, Heinze wants to join liverpool and not any other club.

but he is a manure player so it is their right not to sell him.

yes it is their right mate, but also dont forget that he has it in writing from manure that they will sell him for 6 million, there is no stipulation in this letter that he cant be sold to us, its only when we bid that the mancs tried to back pedal, the letter is in effect a contract, its agreed by both parties and both parties accepted to be bound by it.

also its heinze that is taking them to court, not us

A few years ago Moyes tried his hardest to hold on to Rooney while Fergie was booming on about how Rooney wanted to move to the scum. He did the same for the last six months with Hargreaves. As usual, Fergie just doesn't like it when hes the one being pushed around.

I fully agree Sean, the mancs don't like it up 'em.

Although I have to say £7m for a 29 year old full back seems a tad on the high side considering not too many full backs cost that. If it works out all well and good, otherwise you're paying above average for above aver-AGE. The mancs are so determined not to sell and it's quite funny, he's not absolute first choice and we're supposedly not a threat. They should focus all their energy on getting Tevez, I'm guessing at the moment the Premier League ruling that Tevez is registered to West Ham and they control his destiny will be the conclusion of FIFA. Why should they have any power over it, regardless how loud the mancs shout??? Then again you have to wonder about some of the conclusions drawn in the whole affair, especially why it took the FA until JANUARY to check the documents on a move in AUGUST the previous year.

Can't remember which game it was, but one thing that summed Paletta up for me was last season (possibly pre-season), when an opposing attack had just broken down, and we were starting to build an attack from the back. There was a very straightforward ball to him just outside our area (possibly even a simple roll out from the keeper), and as he was facing our own goal, he did that thing of stepping over the ball and turning to let it past himself so he could take it on his right foot and start going forward.

Only thing was, he'd paid absolutely no attention to where he was on the pitch, and it went straight out of play. There wasn't an opposing player within 40 yards of him, and he just gave them a throw in just outside our box.

That was the first time I saw him play, and I've seen nothing since to suggest that he's anything but a donkey with a bit of show-pony in his family.

I was the friendly with FC Mainz last season where he missed a simple headed clearence that really sticks out after they thrashed us 5 or 6, but even in the Fulham at the end of last season I think he gave Arbolea a nervous breakdown that he didn't recover from. Remember this was the guy that marked Messi out of 180mins of football, look at him now!!!!!!!!

I do see how a loan spell in Spain may help develop him as a player, he needs confidence and so far he has shown little conviction in his performances with us, a spell in Spain - a division that he would be more suited to, and a place that he could actually get a loan to would probably help build his confidence. I don't actually see him as being good enough for us anyway.
