Looks good based on one pre-season game, he cost nothing so it's not like we're taking a hefy gamble but he really must contribute along with the other forwards or we'll end up short of goals and well short of title contention.

Jeez guys we're in danger of sounding like Spurs supporters here such is our wanton knee-jerkery. I started the thread as a bit of a p!ss take given the fact that so many people were willing to write the bloke off before they had even seen him play, never mind that he hadn't tried on a red shirt at the time. It seemed that as he was free, then he must be rubbish.

Then he by all accounts has a good game in a pre-season kickabout (I haven't seen any of the footage myself) and we've bought a World beater who's going to outscore Schevcenko. Firstly, I've a hunch that the Chelsea man may, like Drogba before him show his true colours in his second season and prove his detractors wrong. Secondly, Voronin wants to be careful about starting the season at a gallop, in the richest scoring vein of his life. If he scores a couple more in the next couple of games he might just find himself warming the bench for a bit. Just bcause you are scoring a goal every time you swing your leg doesn't necessarily mean you will get a sustained run in the team, just ask Peter Crouch.

I detect a subtle hint of anti-rotationism in your post Mick

right now he looks like a player playing against :censored: teams.

we shall see when the premiership starts, what you can take from these games i guess is the fact that he links up well with teammates as a very good sign.

:) I'm fully aware that unfortunately at the moment I'm about as subtle as I am unpredictable. It's funny since I've moved to NZ they are having the same debate over Rugby here. Despite having unquestionably the best team in the World at the moment, Graham Henry the coach has decided to adopt a rotational selection policy. "Got to keep the players fresh" etc etc.

Just out of interest and even if you don't follow Rugby (which I must confess I don't really despite going to an All Blacks game over the weekend), what would you think might be the potential effects in a game of Rugby of rotation? Unfamiliarity perhaps, lack of fluency, anxiety amongst the players, dropped passes, moves breaking down, the team being less able to respond as a unit in times of difficulty, set-pieces not being as solid as they ought to be? Hey presto! you could be a rugby pundit!! Because that is EXACTLY what is happening with the All Blacks at the moment. They've gone from being the biggest certainties imaginable, to the doubts really starting to creep in after a defeat in Australia a couple of weeks ago. My advice to anybody looking to put the mortgage on them to win the World Cup at 1/2 is most definately DON'T.

I'm no great rugby fan, but I do follow it from time to time when the internationals are on. I still reckon the All Blacks will come good at the world cup. I think it's more a case of individual errors that have cost them recently, the quality is there they just need to implement their game plan and be more efficient whilst cutting out the basic errors - plus they don't have Sivivatu who is the nuts when on form. I don't think rotation has as great an effect in Rugby Union as it does in football, unless they are making wholesale changes, it also depends on which players are being rotated, in some positions you can get away with it. Anyway, I think the decider is against the aussies this Saturday? It's the biggest Tri-nations match in a while and will be a test of character for the All blacks, I fancy them to do the business.

I'm not normally one to sing the praises of players but to me this guy looks underrated!  he looks like an intelligent player and the sort of striker who has the potential to do well with the style of English football.

I'm not saying he will be a worldbeater but I hope the lad is a success!  Friendly goals they may be but his confidence will be high and thats so important for a striker.

i do play rugby myself and i have to say what is happening with the all blacks is there own doing rotation in rugby is not a good thing, you lose something from your game when you do not know were and what your other players are doing or thinking

i think they are looking to test players at the moment and see who is good enough to slot in if someone were to get injured and that is why there results of late have not been great, this will change and they will steady the ship as we go in to the world cup

but don`t think they will win it
