There was a lot of word doing the rounds late last week and over the weekend that a big signing was due to be announced today, and so far I've seen nowt about it.

Just wondered if anyone has heard anything?

Unfortunately I haven't heard anything either.

Its almost impossible to speculate, but I believe that considering Valencia's massive debts and the fact that they recently signed Corradi and Fiore from Lazio in a £22m move, chances are they will sell Baraja and maybe Albelda.

Whether the "big signing" is Baraja is anyone's guess.

there is to be a press conference held tomorrow afternoon before the squad fly out to the USA on thursday. i merely expect cisse to be officially unveiled along with the new coaching staff.

I wondered if it was going to be that, to be honest. Someone may well have heard "press conference" and assumed it was something more interesting.

To be honest, it would not surprise me in the least if we made no more signings until the transfer window opens again mid season. Here's hoping though.

There has been so much speculation in the press about today tho. I reckon they expected something today as its the players first get together at Melwood. Valencia was only able to purchase those players due to an outstanding debt, if anything Benitez may have felt it would be easy to take a player such as Baraja knowing the state of the club as Im sure he does but perhaps now his leaving has become somewhat messy perhaps they are unwilling to do business with us.

i think we will defo sign at least one player remember gerrard saying that we are going to bring in some quality players when he announced he is going to stay.

yeah, he said we need at least 3 top class new signings for the new season. But i'd say beni convinced him otherwise
