Yossi benayoun to liverpool - Israeli press says - deal done

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby mgabby » Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:40 pm

Israeli press says today that Yossi Benayoun's move from WHU to Liverpool is a done deal.
I didn't see much on it here, or at other English sites, but the sourse is the leading internet site in Israel - ynet.
If any of you wants/can try to read some Hebrew - here is the link http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-3422937,00.html

As I said in other threads here, I have seen Yossi play for many years, since he was the star of Hapoel Beer Sheva, a small Israeli team.
He will bring to LFC something we didn't have for a long time : a player that can come in during a game and try to make something by himself when nothing works (the final against Milan is one example).
He has the ball control that will remind you Steve McManaman... maybe even better.
I can't see him play much as a starter - but might help as a sub.

And hey, maybe we need this "holyland magic". The last time LFC signed an Israeli player, he scored 8 goals in 7 games (3 of them as a sub!!) and we won our last title  :)

Good luck Yossi !

Yossi coming to the reds will add some much needed class to the right side. Every time I've seen him play he has never let himself down. You can see in a team lacking class he was the only one making an effort to play the ball in a inteligent way. Yossi will if he has in fact joined Liverpool fit in very nicely. Babel on the left too it looks like Rafa's spending has ended.......

If this ends the spending that means a total outlay of £20m.
WOW, a whole 5 more millions than he got when Moore was the owner.

I dont think the spending is over by a long way. As for Yossi, well with Garcia going he is a good replacement. We dont have many players like him at the club and it will be nice to have him in the squad

Congratulations, lad--220 doom and gloom posts full of baseless speculation and simplistic assumptions.  Your friends all miss you so why not run along home now, hmmm? ???

Well, Benayoun's agent, Ronen Katzav, confirmed the report at www.one.co.il (this is in hebrew, and the benayoun story is of course the headline of this sports site).
He says that that the signing will be tomorrow, just after the medical tests.

Is there any talk of the transfer fee Mgabby?

I think Benayoun is a good signing for us.  The lad has great skill and composure on the ball, can play in a few different positions and has Premiership experience.  He's a decent replacement for Garcia and a huge step up from Zenden.

I'll be quite satisfied with the squad if we sign benayoun, babbel and one more left winger...

if we sign babbel i think rafa will use him as a left sided attacker/winger rather than a striker...

I suppose 4 or 5 million wouldnt be a bad price, he is still only 27. Does anyone know how much West Ham are looking

Cheers, mate.  I can live with that price (if it's true) as it shouldn't hinder our ability to spend on other players.

Good squad player I guess, has good ball control and would add some depth to the team. Hopefully he can improve his goal scoring.
