I still get a feeling Cisse will end up going for a lower figure to Marseille. Lyon offered us more then Villa for Baros but because he wanted to join Villa we had to accept the lower fee.

Cisse to L'OM nearly done:

OM.net information: In addition to the signature of the medium of ground Boudewijn Zenden (see in addition), the OM also found an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer of Djibril Cissé! More information to be followed on OM.net

Djibril Cissé will be well Marseillais the next season. The meeting enters the leaders of Liverpool, those of Marseilles and the representatives of the player this morning finally led to an agreement between the three parts. The French attacker international twenty-five years thus will engage officially this weekend for the four next seasons with the OM, which was its wish since the beginning of the market of summer

Feck Marseille, they want to hold out for silly money for Ribery but are haggling over peanuts for Cisse. If they don't want him for a price that is more reflective of what they should be paying, then sit him in the reserves.

Djibril will be Olympien”, declared us Pape Diouf, confirming that an agreement in principle had been found with Liverpool for the transfer of the French international attacker, lent with the OM in 2006/07. “A happiness never makes riding only. With the arrival of Zenden, one can say that one has just carried out a double blow. It was symbolic system for us in our recruitment which to maintain Djibril in our rows. That was done not without evil but arrived there we. We are very satisfied with the finality of this business. The discussion was long, sometimes lasts and testing but our pawns should have been advanced, moreover Liverpool made in the same way”, continued the President phocéen. “In the final analysis, I think that the bringing together that I evoked per moment ended up being final. Thus the agreement could be found today”. Lastly, Pape Diouf concluded while paying homage to Djibril Cissé for his implication: “It is obvious that without its will, we would not have arrived at this positive result and for this, I pay homage to him”.

By reading that it seems that without Cissé demanding a Marseille move, he would not be headed there= lower fee

Reuters are reporting that Cisse's move to Marseille has now gone through.

Intriguingly, they also say that Fowler could be on his way to Cardiff City. I'd be very surprised if he went there.

I was at Anfield today with my lad buying him something suitably LFC for his 3rd birthday and who was strolling into Anfield but Cisse himself !

Some Day trippers were milling around him at the entrance to the Tour reception as he walked through and in he strolls after signing a few autographs and excusing himself saying "I'm busy".

Anyway I pop into the club shop and I'm in there around 15 mins and on my way out I catch sight of him leaving in his Black BMW 4X4, poor lad nearly pranged it trying to get out onto Breckfield road ! :D

So 15mins it took from arriving, talking to the club and leaving.................... hardly lengthy discussions is it. I assume it went something like this .....

LFC "My Cisse, we have received an offer for you..............

Cisse "Yes, who from ? "

LFC " Who gives a :censored:, we will sell you to anyone "

Cisse "But I'm a French international ..........

LFC "So was Cheyrou, we've learnt our lesson, we only buy in Spanish these days ............

Cisse " I'll get my coat ...........

LFC " Don't bother, it's stopped raining"

Cisse "TAXI !!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D

Liverpool bank £16m as Cisse and Bellamy are moved onJames Ducker
Rafael Benítez, the Liverpool manager, was stepping up his search for a world-class winger last night after off-loading Craig Bellamy and Djibril Cissé for a combined fee of about £16 million. Bellamy, the Wales forward, has joined West Ham United in a deal worth up to £8 million after passing a medical in East London yesterday and agreeing a four-year contract worth about £70,000 a week.

Alan Curbishley, the West Ham manager, turned his attention to Bellamy after missing out to Tottenham Hotspur for Darren Bent. Bellamy’s departure brings to an end a frustrating 12 months for the Welshman, who struggled to adapt to BenÍtez’s rotation policy and whose spell at Liverpool was marred by controversy when he was accused of attacking John Arne Riise with a golf club at a training camp.

Bellamy was reluctant to leave Anfield but came to accept that his chances of first-team football next season were limited and favoured a move to West Ham over a return to Black-burn Rovers, whom he left last summer, or Aston Villa, where Martin O’Neill, who has worked with the player at Celtic, was thought to be keen to sign him.

Yossi Benayoun, the Israel midfield player, is expected to move in the opposite direction and become Liverpool’s second significant signing of the summer after the £20.2 million capture of Fernando Torres, although a deal had still to be concluded last night. Liverpool have also agreed to sell Cissé to Marseilles for about £8 million. Cissé will sign a three or four-year contract with the French club, who have also signed Boudewijin Zenden on a free transfer after he was released by Liverpool.

Although Liverpool will make a significant loss on Cissé, whom they signed for £14.2 million from Auxerre in 2004, the money from his sale, and that of Bellamy, will give Benítez the funds to make another big signing.

Bellamy, 27, is joining his seventh club since making his debut for Nor-wich City in 1996 and despite having cost a total of more than £30 million in transfer fees, he has yet to make the impact that his talent suggests he should. Benayoun will offer BenÍtez more options on the right side of midfield, but the Spaniard is keen to bring in a second winger who can play on either flank. Alessandro Mancini, the AS Roma winger, and Ricardo Quares-ma, of FC Porto, are thought to be interesting BenÍtez, although the manager appears to have conceded defeat in his efforts to sign Florent Malouda, with the Lyons winger likely to join Chelsea.

While all the talk on Merseyside this week may have been about Torres, one player also hoping to make a big impression at Anfield is Andriy Voronin. The Ukraine striker, signed on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, was formally welcomed yesterday after signing a four-year contract with the club.

With Dirk Kuyt or Peter Crouch expected to be the preferred partners for Torres up front, Voronin appears to have been signed to offer cover in attack, but the player does not see it that way.

“I haven’t made this decision to just sit on the bench,” he said. “I am coming to get into the team and form a partnership with someone. I played against Liverpool two years ago in the Champions League and I remember the madness before the game of all the supporters. I will never forget the atmosphere at the stadium and can’t wait to experience it as a Liverpool player.”

Benítez believes that Voronin could prove a real asset. “He’s a free transfer, but maybe that’s better for him because he won’t have the pressure of the others,” the manager said. “These players play better because they aren’t under pressure.”

Liverpool have agreed an undisclosed fee with Stockport County for Ryan Crowther, the young winger.

Clubs in the bag

Craig Bellamy has played for six clubs. More often than not, he has not left fond memories behind.

Norwich City 1996-2000 Showed his potential at Carrow Road, despite suffering injuries

Coventry City 2000-01 Cost £6.5 million but left when Coventry went down

Newcastle United 2001-05 Run-ins with Graeme Souness led to the £6 million striker being loaned out

Celtic 2005 Upset Alan Shearer with abusive text messages while in exile in Scotland

Blackburn Rovers 2005-06 Fine season after £5 million move but was off at first interest from Anfield

Liverpool 2006-07 Hit John Arne Riise with a golf club and scored in the Nou Camp to help to beat Barcelona. Fair return for £6 million

If we got £8million for Cisse(which I find hard to believe) we have got a decent deal for a change.

Cissé is all but gone to Marseille already so no need to bring up his name anymore...

From the independant:

"Losing out on Cissé will come as a blow to West Ham especially as they were confident that their offer far out-weighed the £2.5m initially proposed by Marseilles, who have also signed former Liverpool midfielder Bolo Zenden.
However Cissé, who cost Liverpool £14m, insisted that he wanted to return to France despite also attracting interest from Portsmouth."

That would be just great if there is any truth in those numbers

hello, my name's Dam.

I'm french, marseille fan and a friend of Josip. sorry, I don't speak english as well as him.

I'm quite surprised that you didnt have a good discussion with him because he like's liverpool very much et he's really a gentleman.

about cissé, I'm very happy that liverpool and OM got an agree. I think that the price is quite good for both parts. 8M€ (how much in £?) is a logical price for an international player you didn't want any more. 12M€ was really too much.

(sorry if i speak like a 4 year-old boy but i do my best  :D )

I think Rafa made a mistake with cissé. Cissé merited a chance to play at the top of the attack.
of course he has a poor technique but to push the ball in the net he's very strong notably with the head. he has very good moves on the field (  but a little too much off-side, ok) especially in the penalty area.
to play counter-attack (favorite strategy of liverpool in champion's league) he would have been precious, more than kuyt ou crouch.

in Marseille we're very happy of this transfer and we knowthat djibril will score a lot of goals in french league and champion's league.

dam, Cisse is not good with his head at all mate.
I dont recall him scoring a header at all for us.

Also Josip is not a gentleman at all, he started slagging off english players who were wrongly accused of rape for no reason. That is not the type of gentleman i want to speak with....even on an internet forum  :no

The price you are quoting better not be right, as it is rumoured clubs in england were offering double that, and that the deal is nearer 8-9 million (english pounds)
