Cissé will do very well in France.
He is a very direct player with pace and power which suits the play in Ligue 1 like a charm.

He will get 20+ goals a season over there and will be a bargain for Marseille.
Marseille have just got £17m+ for Ribery and will get loads of money from CL football next season and they haggle about paying 6 million for their obvious top scorer next season...

....Because we were as thick to pay £14m for him we expect at least a decent price in return, he can cut it in France but in England you need more than blistering pace and a powerful shot. He is not good enough for us, it's nothing to do with us being unable to utilise his ability, he just isn't good enough. When you play for a team like Liverpool you don't get time and space to run with the ball, in France you get that time and space in much more abundance. The defending here is more atute and if you have a poor touch and a lot of pace it becomes easy to disposess the striker. As much as his pace is useful at times, his negatives outweighed his positives.

As you may know, this a Marseille's fan speaking. Having read your posts concerning Cisse's probable transfer to OM, I can say that many of you lack intellectual consistency : how can you claim that Djib was rubbish,  a terrible player etc., and at the same time claim that on the transfer market he's worth much more than what we're going to pay for him? Either he' s good and expensive, or he's terrible and cheap. Of course our own interest is to have you thinking he is terrible (which we think he isn't). The truth is : you were never able to make the most of his skills, you constantly misused Cisse and never realised how good he could be when used where and how he had to be used. Stop whining, lads. The blame is all yours!

Josip84 you hear Djib is getting pretty :censored: off with the hold up concerning his future.  I read in the provence that he is gonna come back to england again this week asking Liverpool to let him join OM.  Provence was saying he is gonna tell Liverpool that he doesnt want to speak with other clubs etc.

I one of the few on here that believe that Djib was mis-used by Rafa.

do you live in Marseille?

Hello kobashi,

Yes, mate, I live in Marseille (to be more accurate I live 40 miles north of Marseille, and I regularly support my favourite side OM at the velodrome). What you read in La Provence has been confirmed by  OM's president Mr Diouf : Cissé repeatedly said he wanted to play for no other club than OM next season.
As for his being misused by Rafa, I think it's absolutely blatant. I could even go as far as saying that if Cissé had been the Reds'striker instead of Kuyt in your Champions league final last May, the result would have been reversed.

If Marseille want Cisse, and thats the only club he wants to play for, then pay the asking price, if not tough titty.

If i was our board or Rafa, i would tell Marseille to either cough up, or Cisse can sit and rot in our reserves.

That is one of the funniest things I have had the opportunity to read lately. Defending in the premiership being more atute than in the french league? You must be joking, lad. Some defenders in the Premiership are so terrible that such a prominent player as my Grandma even wearing flip-flops could score loads of goals in your league.

In that case, LFC would have to keep on paying Cissé his huge salary. While sitting and rotting in your reserves, he would have plenty of time to count his banknotes and laugh all the way to the bank. That's what I call superb management of human resources.

Is that what you want?
Any other sensible proposals?  :)

Quite right, peewee, Salif Diao's reputation hasn't reached the South of France yet. I suppose he must be some sort of coach in charge of the reserves.....
What you've got to realise is : during the process of recovery and physical re-education after he broke his leg(s), Cissé has endured much more than any coach could impose on him. I can see that many of you use pejorative words to refer to Djib, and I think it's totally unfair : one thing you can't deny is that this man has constantly shown a helluva courage.

I can't believe this discussion has gone on so long. Josip he is garbage mate and if he excells in your league, then it follows that it must be garbage as well. I know people will probably say it's not as simple as that, but it is.

As for all this "I only want to play for OM" stuff, that is garbage as well. He said all that about Liverpool too, how he loved the city and the fans and it was his dream to play here. Then if somebody didn't pass the ball to him while he was usually stood ten yards offside he would sulk for the rest of the game.

What is he worth? Well, it depends how much you want him. One thing is certain, he can run fast (and I mean properly fast, not Gonzales fast) so he does have his uses in some situations. I'd hold out for 5 million as an absolute minimum (I personally wouldn't pay that for him but I think he is worth that to Marseilles or West Brom or whoever else wants him) and if we don't get it, I'd stick him on the bench. It's amazing how many times during a season you are sitting there desperately needing a goal with a couple of minutes left and you think "feck me what we could do with here is a bloke who can run really fast and will shoot on sight". He'd come in handy for that. 'Course you couldn't bring him on iof you were in front because as we all recall, the dopey fecker tries cross field balls and stuff in the last minute. At Fourteen million pounds he is comfortably in the top three of Liverpools worst signings, eclipsed only by Diouf and the hapless and aforementioned Daio.

I agree Cisse has had some bad luck with breaking his leg twice but IMO the lad has no skill he relies to much on pace, when he gets in front of goal he blasts it instead of placing it so most of the time the ball ends up in the Kop.

Not the kind of striker who is suited to our play under Rafa.

Yeah i would waste more money than let him go for whatever price Marseille suggest, at the moment he is still our player, he cost 14 million, if rafa wants 8 back or whatever then we shouldnt be selling for less.
When we want to sign other clubs players we have to pay there asking price, thats why we constantly lose out on players because we have baulked at the price, so why should we sell Cisse for less than we feel he is worth.
I dont rate him but feel 8 million would be fair due to his scoring record and his relative young age.
If Marseille wont pay it, then lets tell Djibril he goes elsewhere or misses out on playing champions league football this season.
