Malouda - Did we ever want him?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby redmikey » Sun Jul 01, 2007 3:48 pm

Florent Malouda has revealed he has his heart set on a move to Chelsea.

The French international is keen to leave Lyon as he seeks a new challenge in a new league.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Milan have all been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old, but Malodua says his number one choice is Chelsea.

Malouda revealed he has held talks with Blues boss Jose Mourinho about moving to Chelsea and he is hoping a deal can be agreed to let him switch to Stamford Bridge.

"It's Chelsea where I want to go. I have made my choice," Malouda told Progres.

"I have talked about it with the coach Jose Mourinho and I have had direct contact with the club unlike Liverpool where too many intermediaries and sharks have entered the game."

Malouda saw Eric Abidal leave Lyon on Friday and he is keen to join his France team-mate in departing Stade Gerland.

"I want to leave, the directors know it and in these conditions I can't see carrying on with Lyon," added Malouda.

"So much the better for Eric (Abidal) and it changes nothing for me."

this gets on my tits as it seems the deciding factor is that jose has made one to one contact with the player and he feels WANTED as a lot of players seem to say is important

why if he was on rafa's list of players was rick parry not havin the lad over for bbq s and gettin him fitted out for a 4x4

i looked for the malouda thread but no joy ,,, i do feel this needs talkin about as it is not just about this player but our general attitude in the transfer market , we have the money now but the structure behind the scenes seems to be lacking, i feel that david dean would be a great addition to the board but i also have faith that the yanks have a lot of experience in the wheeling and dealing side of sport

Couldn't have put it any better. Money spoke there, otherwise his heart wasn't even with us to come here. Whoever Rafa signs, I'd rather he got players that want to sweat and bleed for the right to wear our red, and not greedy b*astards like Malouda who just opted for the chance of getting more cash. Malouda, you bell end! You could have furthered your career by playing with one of the most decorated teams on the planet, instead you decided to ruin your career by playing for a small club for money. W@anker!

i don't think this is just about money imo i think this highlights some of our faults in gettin players

i don't know much about the player and can some that i have seen enough french talent or lack of it at anfield for a life time, t say it was just the money or was it jose being a sneaky c~nt and going around the system or is it parry sitting on his hands again fecking up another rafa target

i don't know is the answer but to me the issue is that we were the first linked and we have approached but half hearted as it seems

in any case i think harry kewell is going to have the season of his life to get a new contract as rafa won't sell him after standing by him on so many occasion

I don't think there has been any dodgy dealings.  facts are that Chelsea actually made an official £12m bid (rejected) while liverpool never made any bid at all.

it is not unsual for players to talk with interested parties.  Lyon have allowed him too speak with chelsea and Liverpool officials.  Lyon just won't sell unless £13.5m -£14m is offered.

things are done different in europe.  its not uncommon to see players given permission to  speak to interested parties even before a bid has been accepted.

we looked at him thats all...

once malouda said he didn't  mind which club he went to,  chelski, liverpool, or arsenal...

after he said that,  the deal was over,  rafa only wants players who have a desire to play for this great club...

we put a bid in for mancini not long ago, roma turned the bid down...

i really dont care about malouda to be honest...

in the french interview, Malouda didnt say anything wrong about liverpool, basically he said that there was too many intermediaries, and that sharks had got into the discussion (probably people pretending to act on behalf of LFC).

he has probably never been contacted by parry, rafa or anyone else from the club, meanwhile chelsea and mourinho have officialy contacted him and made clear they wanted him

I said he's a good player (Pedersen)... i don't rate players from french league...especially after we sign Cisse. If, Malouda is THAT good...then so be it....

Do u know how silly that is considering the amount of top players that are exported from that league.
Some people go on like we signed Henry, Pires, Zidane, Thuram, Ribery, Nasri etc and they all flopped.  The only player we signed from france that had any real reputation was cisse.  The likes of Diouf, Diao and Cheryu were not superstars in France.  Pongelle had a great rep from a World youth tournament.

I take it you're french then

Gamst Pederson is proven in the Prem and that counts a hell of a lot. I rate him far higher than Malouda and hope we go for him. I don't think we were ever seriously interested in Malouda. I reckon Bellamy will go back to Blackburn and we get Gamst Pederson plus some money, that would be cool  :buttrock

I don't think he's that good. Why are Chelsea signing him anyway, haven't they got enough players in that position?
