Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby The Grudge » Sat Jun 30, 2007 1:49 am

It strikes me that a few or maybe most on here have signed up to the forum on the back of or historic win against Milan in 2005!

Thats OK..it was easy back then to love your team, whether it be Liverpool or your family everything is easy when the going is good.Coming from a working class family like i hope most of our fans still do we know that it is hard to love the boat when at times you may fear the need for an orange jacket!

Again that is OK and i can accept that.

LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB means so much to me.It means passion belief and it has showed me a reason that no matter what one should never give up.

I know my LFC history and would like to share a few special facts with you about how great LFC IS!!
Stats!
Ian Rush.....1980-1996........346 goals.Born 20 October 1961 St Asaph Wales.Best record scored 139 goals in 224 games.Best striker ever? ?????

Roger Hunt...1959-1970......286 goals for the cause!!Born 20 July1938 in Golborne.....FUC>KING LEGEND!

This is random..biggest attendance...61,905 against wolves FA cup  5th round!back in 1952...kinda surprising!!

Quotes?
Shankly...I  was the best manager Britain because I was never devious or cheated anyone.I'd break my wifes legs if i played against her,but id never cheat her!

On the death of Dixie Dean......I think Dixie would be amazed to know that even in death he could draw a bigger crowd than Everton on a Sunday afternoon! :buttrock

Of course i didnt take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present!
It was her birthday..Would i haved got married in the football season? It was Rochdale reserves!

Everton played at Anfield1884,we fuc.ked them out in 1892...
Initially we played in Blue and White!

Elisha Scott 24 August1894!! 467 appearances!

Biggest legend!IAN CALLAGHAN...857

To a gifted doctor! The problem with you son is that all your brains are in your head! :buttrock  :buttrock YNWA

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at, you think by posting infomation that could easily of come of the internet makes you a true Liverpool fan. I mean if you're a true fan then great because that's what I want, people who have Liverpool running through their viens like myself. But I don't think that kind of infomation proves you to be a true Liverpool fan, becuase like I said that could of easily come of the internet. Raw passion and love for the club proves you're a true fan, not someone who can post facts on a forum or somebody who knows their history. Passion and love makes you a true fan and if those 16 million extra fans we got after winning the European Cup in 2005 show that passion and love then they are just as much a fan as you and me, but if like I expect they were all Barcelona fans last year and are now Milan fans we know they're not true fans just fickle. Also a true fan is someone who will support us whatever division we are in and whatever team we are facing. Loyalty is what being a Liverpool fan is all about not knowing our records, however I'm glad that you, like myself, do know your history, because Liverpool is a club built on tradition and success and our history is important to the club, therefore should be important to the fans, but if people don't know there history don't complain at them, teach them the history so they can teach future generations.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

i agree, why dont you tell us about some special games you have been to or tell us about some journeys into europe, tell us your feelings as oppossed to some readily available facts.

to be honest this looks like someone trying to defend themselves against being a bandwagon jumper

Yer see this is what gets me , alot of people think our world wide fan base was built after the 2005 success, that's ballacks of course,.

The fans and the team that ventured into europe in the 60's,70's and 80's built our world wide fan base. It was on the the back of there exploits that people from other countries started to take an interest in all things LFC.

I know you've probably had a few bevvies ace ,so you probably just
feel like spouting sh!te , good on yer .

It's the young supporters i feel for, the likes of me and peewee and leon supersub and all the other auld @rses have been there seen and done it . We have witnessed the glory days , all the amazing games and all the amazing players , and there all far to many to reel off.

For the young ones ,like adam and dward and a few others , there all just stories or videos or dvd's. They have witnessed the odd cup win and false dawns . They still love LFC and it's history , but for there sake i really hope we make a new history in a new era and they will truly be able to feel how good it is to be the best team in the world , and by that i mean world beaters . well said igor.

i still say there is no other feeling like winning the league and being there at the game that clinches it, i get annoyed when people say they would rather win the CL than the league, maybe their opinions will change when we win the league again and they can sample it. we were lucky to see many league wins, to see us steamroll everything put in front of us and do it with style, lets hope those days return

Your right of course pee , i love the CL and all of it's pressures, but iwant to get back to the days when at the start of the season we look to see who will be challenging us for the title.

I agree all the post.

I think success has something to do with having more fans, but in a different way. In my opinion, the kids that are now 5 or 6 year old right now around the world, are the future world wide fans (outside England).

Meaning I doubt very much that a decent football fan switch his loyalties when they're 25 years old, but if you're a kid and you see a team winning you're impressed.

FOr instance I remember what Liverpool meant when I was a kid. There was not digital TV, nor internet for everybody, nor TV games at every hour in the TV. You could see Liverpool as a foreign team it was in the finals but not in the quarter of finals.

Yet, they were a legend! why? because the stories were told mouth to mouth, stories were told before the matches and after the matches about Liverpool, and as a kid you heard those with this face   :oh:  :oh; .

I was only 3 years old,  but when I hear older men than me explaining the moment in which Liverpool came to San Sebastian to play (and win) a UEFA match when Toshack was a player, back in 1978, it was incredible the expectation in the town. Precisely because there wasn't as much TV as now Liverpool were even more of a legend, and for a kid Liverpool sounded like big red giants, that they had never seen playing, but they could beat anyone in the world.

All that romanticism has been lost with so many games and interviews and youtubes. Stories are not told mouth to mouth now, but still, I think that the childen around the world will be impressed with what they're watching now, and Liverpool is forging even more fans in the future, as we speak.

Not all the kids will join a team because of success, sometimes it's other factors (kids are kids), but a winner team always have more fandom.

What a ridiculous assumption  :no  what gives you the right to try and figure out when most of us started to support Liverpool , just because you manged to take a few stats from the net !

So on that basis I will also assume that since you didn't register on here until May 2007 that you are one of those people that you are referring to  :no

Cant believe i even read this never mind responded to it, waste of a page

I only joined this forum in May 2007, and some of you may assume i'm only jumping on the "bandwagon", however i can assure you i'm not. I was brought up on Liverpool, they were the only team any one in my family supported, (Except my uncle who is a manc, then again he always was a little "different"!) My grandad had Liverpool pumping through his veins and he made sure we all did too. Some supporters will only have joined since Istanbul, but there you go thats human nature sometimes, especially with all the world wide media coverage of the game nowadays, but as long as it makes them happy, so what. Instead of having a go at new fans, we should welcome them and educate them so they know exactly what an amazing, historic and successful team they have the pleasure of supporting.
You can buy all the quality you like, but without desire, passion and the insatiable will to win, it’s nothing.

Agree with you completly . European cups brilliant but as you say nothing like going through a season knowing teams fear you. Been a red for 40 years home and away, when players could take a smack and not look for an oscar, Weve tasted them days and im starvin to taste them again.
Best time for me was going to wolves about 15 minutes before the game ended we knew we had won the league 4 deep around the pitch, write up to the line kneeling down behind the goal waiting for the whisle to go. I want them days back again i want my grandaughter to experience what i did. Leave the glory hunters to themselves these people dont go to the match anyway in my day we used to call them turncoats

I don't care why people support Liverpool as long as they love the club and don't start supporting other sides when it's not going too well. So grudge seems to be a Liverpool fan so lets just support our fellow fans.

As for winning the league against winning in europe, the league is much more important, for me anyway. I've seen us win the league and the European cup and the league is much more sweeter. Although I don't think any victorius league campaign will compare to Istanbul, that was far to special to be compared with anything. But the league and LFC have been seperated for too long, we need to win it soon.

Istanbul will always be special as will the 4 that preceded that but the league is a different kind of special. Its the bread and butter. When you win that you can really call yourself elite in your own nation. Its been too long and I hope we put up a good fight this coming season.

As for the guy who started this thread who :censored: cares what the rest of you think. At the end of the day Grudge if you support the club then good for you. Dont let the senior members try to intimidate you. Just tell them to :censored: off. :D
