I agree, one fact that most seem to overlook is his actual goalscoring record whilst with us.
. 1st team games: 79
. 1st team goals: 24

Thats a decent return whatever way you slice it.

I guess (as someone pointed out) that for £14 million we were all expecting a lot more from him , ultimately we were disappointed hence the bitterness unfairly aimed in his direction. As was said ,if he'd  cost us the same as say Bellamy we'd think it was a f'uckin' bargain.

Good luck to the fella, wasn't his fault that Houllier mugged us on the money .Despite his limited abilty I'm convinced another manager would have got far more out of Cisse than Rafa ever did.

he gave me the impression his hair and tattoos mattered more.
he even came up with some cloth label if im not wrong
if only he put as much effort into his games.
though i do appreciate his moments, like in the ecl or fa cup i cant remember he was playing while he was injured or something....
oh welll.....

wow 24 in 79

thats almost as good as heskey

sorry but cisse is not a footballer in my opinion, hes an athelete....great power, great power in his shot but too many times in games when he should have finished he choose to hit it as hard as possible with no general aim and missed.

I think you'll find his ratio was in fact better than Heskeys'. Heskey averaged a goal every 3.8 games (virtually 1 in 4) . Cisse was virtually 1 in 3 .

Cisse's stats for minutes played was better than Crouch, Kuyt and Morientes.  05/06 Season saw 24 starts with 19 goal return.  Yes Cisse had faults but I will always say that he will always score more goals than any of our strikers if given the same amount of game time and actually played as a striker rather than RW.

sidenote - Cisse was at a boxing match in Marseille with Papa Diouf last night and when asked on TV about signing for Marseille he said "I would like to stay and signs are good but deal is not done yet"

The lad's fate was sealed with most of the fans when he missed that sitter at Old Trafford.  Had he stuck that away (and had we defended the set piece better for Ferdinand's late goal) Djibs might have turned a corner with us in terms of fan support.  Sadly, it just added to the impression that he wasn't up to it.

In a way, it reminds me of Dudek's situation after his gaffs against the Mancs.  Many fans knew then that he wasn't good enough.  Thankfully, he had Istanbul to redeem himself and leave an eternal positive impression (even if most still agreed he was not good enough).  Perhaps if Cisse had scored a hattrick in the FA Cup final instead of just getting us back in the game (before getting overshadowed by Gerrard's heroics) we'd be looking on him more fondly?  Best of luck to him if he does go.

No, it's because it's unfashionable to think he might actually be any good in that area, thus making it easier to get rid of him. Put Henry in that video instead of Cisse - christ, everyone, rags n all, would be waxing lyrical about his deftness and his ability to put the ball where he wants. He'd be called the sultan of spin.............probably.

Thnk of Cisse's goal against Everton - quality finish that not many would have been able to convert were he showed strength, poise and composure. Just think that people are harsher on him than needed and without looking at all the facts.

Yeah, but as LFC was trying to point out, you'll never see Cisse  skin a player, and from an awkward angle, spot the keeper just so slightly off his line and chip and floater over his head into the only spot that anyone could find over the keepers head. You'll never see him 1v1 with the keeper and wait for him to rush out to scramble the ball away from his feet, with a defender breathing down his neck, only to dink the ball lightly over the keeper as he goes to ground, and watch it slowly roll over the line. He lacks a deft finnish like quality players like Bergkamp and Dalglish had. I can see your point, though, about if Henry had have scored that. But the fact is, he's no Theiry Henry, so it's a moot point I'm afraid.

Here's a vid of Cisse before he joined us. A few different finishes. Ironically, he looks the sort of player we now need - someone to get in the box and finish chances. Guess it wasn't meant to be though.

What I've heard 7.5m Euro= £5m.

Marseille is sitting on all the aces. We want to get rid, Marseille has persuaded Cissé to not accept anything but them.

No surprise really

Stats don't lie, he wasn't great but then only Fowler and Owen have really produced the goods in recent times

Selected/Recent Liverpool Strikers

1. Owen - 158 goals in 297 appearances (0.532 goals/app)
2. Rush - 346 goals in 658 appearances (0.526 goals/app)
3. Fowler - 183 goals in 369 appearances (0.496 goals/app)
4. Collymore - 37 goals in 83 appearances (0.446 goals/app)
5. Crouch - 31 goals in 98 appearances (0.316 goals/app)
6. Cisse - 24 goals in 79 appearances (0.304 goals/app)
7. Kuyt - 14 goals in 48 appearances (0.292 goals/app)
8. Camara - 10 goals in 37 appearances (0.270 goals/app)
9. Heskey - 60 goals in 228 appearances (0.263 goals/app)
10. Baros - 27 goals in 108 appearances (0.250 goals/app)
11. Bellamy - 9 goals in 42 appearances (0.214 goals/app)
12. Riedle - 15 goals in 76 appearances (0.197 goals/app)

Covers most of the names worth mentioning, and with enough games to deem significant, that have played in the Premiership. Most of Rush's goals will have been scored pre-Premiership of course, but it's worth comparing him with Fowler and Owen while they're in a little list
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
