Not being a muslim I can't claim to understand all the divisions within Islam itself but it does seem to me that Islam divides as much as it unifies Sunni, Shi'ite, Sufi etc .

It doesn't divide, its already to divided into two major ones, shiites and sunnis.

Till now both have a problem because the bloody media and politicians like it that way.

Islam has always allowed different schools of thought as long as the source has come from the Quran or Sunnah.  The difference between a shia and Sunni for instance is minimal and we agree on the majority of things.  Some sects are rightfully rejected as a lot of there thoughts and practices are innovation and have no roots in any of the holy texts.

And yet those MINIMAL differences allow both sects to kill each other without pause day in and day out ? . Guess it's fortunate that they agree on the majority of things .

You'll appreciate the my slight sarcasm is prompted by your reference to a Political Islam as being a solution for the people of Iraq . With such divisions I fail to see how it would work but that doesn't mean it wouldn't, I just don't see it.

nothing against metalhead. its just...well, some people on this forum are just too left wing for me i guess.

No war is good, there are always casualties. The war in iraq was needed, doesnt matter the reason we went, we did go, and now it needs to be sortde. Mugabe and all that needs sorting too.

What i say can sometimes seem very harsh, and some of it is tongue in cheek but the guys we got out there are fighting for what they believe in.

If we could build a time machine would we not have gone to war with saddam? Let him kill 1000s and stone women in the street just for looking at someone the wrong way? No.

We went to stop an evil dictator, now we got to clear the mess up.

and as for saying nuke the middle east..sometimes i think itd be cool if the whole planet was just destroyed to stop all the b!tching and moaning :;):

anyway, back to topic, i like that rushdie got a knighthood

It must be a bit like Catholic and Protestants. Catholics sometimes go to church - protestants don't bother. :D

Whose fault is that? its us ofcourse! BIG TIME too! some arab media promote such type of violence, especially in Lebanon, we have a shiite lebanese channel who has a go at sunni lebanese channel, its fricking disguesting!

The U.S government is enjoying it, they tend to add more chaos into this situation.

Daws, you went to stop an evil dictator, you did..and then what? Bush said he would take out saddam and leave. He did, the army is still there. why? do you think the only reason going to iraq is to stop saddam? come on!!! OIL! OIL! NATURAL RESOURCES! its colonialism and explotation of 3rd world countries all over again.

No we shouldnt have gone to war fullstop.
There are still thousands dying because of this war, the arab countries dont stop the Taliban or some loons in Iraq and Iran for stoneing woman to death because its still happening today.

We have captured and killed that evil dictator but IMO Iraq is in a damn sight worst state than ever before.

Our soldiers sign up to fight for THIS country your right but I bet not one of them nor their families want them to be in a war right now,  Iraq was not a danger to the UK or the USA.
But because we did go to war we are under more serious threat than ever before.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Knighthoods are rubbish :p given by Kings and Queens whose ancestors hundreds of years ago ran around in little possies with pitch forks saying "Give me your land we'll spare your life" fast forward a couple centries and they are your kings and queens. eerm........ Get to F*ck if you don't mind, no one person was given this earth to rule over, i say let's have anerchy and chaos, give ourselves knighthoods and and make sweet music with fair young maidens and plunder our neighbours land and villages :D .

Seriously Knighthoods when do any these posh Tw*ts put on body armour don a sword and protect anything except their bank balances ???
