Luis Garcia Leaves Anfield - He Signs for Athletico Madrid

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby cpc4eva » Sun Jun 24, 2007 8:48 pm

id hate to see garcia leave the club but constant recent reports are coming thru that the torres deal will be done with garcia included in the sum....

personally i really hate these money plus player transfers for just another player...

i think garcia is good for liverpool and he really adds some excitement and flair and  has shown that he causes teams from europe aswell as manure and scumsea alot of headaches when he is in the team....

I would be sad to see him go because he certainly adds a different dimension to our game. From what I read earlier it seems he is homesick and wants to go back to Spain. So maybe if we could do a deal it would be the best solution.

If Torres was to come in exchange it'd soften my sorrow of seeing him go, but either way it'd be hard to say goodbye to Luis, so many great goals in just a few seasons.

Difficult, in a part ex with Torres i would say yes, providing he is given his true value and is not just a make weight. On his own I would not sell him unless a really good offer came in, possibly in the region of 8 million would be good business on a part ex, 10 at least if we sell him as a stand alone type of deal.

I'd rather keep Garcia and sign maybe Huntelaar and/or Owen.

Torres may be a good player, but 25M is way too much money IMO.

IMO I think we sorely missed Garcia last season. He comes up with a different attacking option, with his flair and unpredictability. He can torment defenders with his pace, and is not afraid of getting into the box and causing a stir.

After he was ruled out, we played more systematic and built up the attack from a long ball played up to the strikers. With Garcia, we play differently, Pennant started to give us those options out wide, but he came into it too late to make any impression.

We need Garcia, if only to make up the numbers, but he is quality that we need for stengthening the team. Sad if he goes.

when Garcia is good , he is good.
but when he is bad , he really is poor and its like playing with a man down.
also isnt he now on the wrong side of 30? I could be wrong.

Pace is certainly one thing Luis Garcia doesn't posses.

No your right, he doesn't take on defenders on the flanks, but he does get into the box with speed.

It would be sad to lose Garcia, I always rated him. He is our best flair player and our best finisher. If he was playing we would have beaten Milan as that is what we were missing. We should keep him.

Also he ended Keane's English playing career by breaking his leg with a heavy challenge. :D
