Who are the other two then hey?

Real Madrid and Manchester Utd.  Dont hate me but i'm just being real.

I agree with a previous post that Arsenal must of enquired about Eto'o but it would be madness for Barca to lose a younger striker like Eto'o when u can have him an Henry together.

Maybe the wealthiest partly due to branding, but global fanbase? We have a larger worldwide fanbase than Barcelona, maybe even Madrid and the mancs aswell.

So what about Henry that just means one of our rivals is weaker.

Most LFC supporters wanted Tevez anyway, at least Henry hasnt gone to one of our rivals.

Again you seem to take pleasure in news that might be bad for us. Typical, who do actually support ?

lfc2007, ace is right, we're masive in our own hemisphere, but when i've travelled and not told people people what team i support, and just enquired about football in general, always hear the same thing. Real, barca, mancs, juve, milan, brazil, then us, not always the truth, just my experience.
Maybe the americans can change this.

No Bench, aCe is NOT right. I've been all across Asia, Europe, parts of Africa and I've seen our support....

It's an historical support that developed during the 70's.

And it's not just anecdotal, from George Gillett himself:

"“Liverpool have 28 million registered fans around the world. They have the largest fanbase in the world of any football club. That by itself is pretty amazing."

There seems to be a load of members on this forum who are anti-Liverpool, if you don't like us fook off!

Any opportunity to blow the trumpet of these fancy foreign clubs and you're there, well go and support them.

Its a tough call really, in Europe i'd hazard a biased guesstimate that we would have the largest fanbase. Worldwide, some places in the far east are notorious for supporting certain players and following them club to club, and recently we have only had Owen and Gerrard, whereas the other clubs mentioned have far more recognised names.

It's an historical support that developed during the 70's when TV boomed, so you're wrong.

Can't have that, a huge no. of people didn't have a TV set in the UK in the mid 70's, there was no way any significant numbers in Africa, Asia were watching English football then. The boom in TV coverage has been from the 90's onwards, unfortunatly whilst the Sh!te have been winning and has meant they have eroded the lead we have had on them.

You make a fair point lfc.

But without getting off topic the majority of people you meet while travelling, as you will know, will believe whatever you say.

Thing is though, and in response to your post, i'm not a hater, far from it, been going since '82 and have always held the name of the club above all else. But as you talk about the tv boom, then ask people in asia, and parts of africa to name one player and in my experience they will all name a brazilian, (kaka or ronhaldinho) first untill you mention the name of lfc, then they'll say gerrard, fowler, owen etc.  They know us, but loyalty of the 70's has gone due in part to your aforementioned tv boom.

We have come back to the fore since istanbul and thats a good thing, but worldwide, we have fallen behind over the the last few years of the tv revolution. which was the main crux of my statement about the americans changing it.

Our success in the 1970's and the corresponding growth in TV/sports broadcasting is one of the main reasons why our fanbase is so big today, do you really think we'd have a fanbase anywhere near comparable to the mancs based on our performance in the 1990's?

It was the 70's and early 80's and the growth of sports broadcasting to match that has made our fanbase so big. The mancs had their success in the 90's, the Sky tv boom of the 90's is the reason why they are so big, just like the 70's/80's is the reason we have a massive fanbase.

TV did grow massively in the 70's and early 80's, I don't know how you think it didn't.
