Henry to join barca... - Does this mean eto is free to move?

that is a HUGE loss to arsenal IF it is true....

£16m is a great price for thierry henry, especially seeing as the
likes of forlan and bent are being priced at about that much.

i think it'd be well worth putting in a cheeky bid to try and hijack the move.
i have every confidence henry would choose liverpool over barcelona... well at least i'd hope.

Cant believe people would think Henry would pick us instead of Barca.

1. He has an close attachment to the Arsenal fans and would never join another English side.

2. His played in England and achieved everything.  Time to move on.

3.  Its Barcelona, one of the 3 biggest club sides in the World.

4. His going to be playing in a side which already has Messi, Eto'o and Ronaldinho.

5.  No offence but Henry probably sees barcelona being a great place to live.

He'll fall out with Eto'o

Things will be said.

Eto'o will cry.

It has disaster written all over it.

Incredible piece of business if it does come off and being a Barca fan on the side (but not when they play us! :D ) I'm well happy.

I don't think that Eto'o will leave in the immediate future. He's openly declared that there is room for him and Henry in the side. I still don't quite see how all four of the attacking players are gonna fit into the team at once though. It was suggested by Barcelona based reporter Graham Hunter on SSN before that they may possibly go with the following formation:

                ETO'O
    HENRY             MESSI

           RONALDINHO

2 DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS

GIO/SYLVINHO              RB
         PUYOL      THURAM

                 VALDES
It would naturally depend on them getting two quality defensive midfielders. However I am really starting to suspect that Ronaldinho may be on his way and probably to AC Milan. It's been suggested before as his brother and agent is also agent for the striker Oliviera (ex Real Betis and I think they are all related in some way, don't quote me on that though) and he has possibly brokered a deal for Ronaldinho to go there.

Whats for sure though is that this could be the catalyst for the transfer market to suddenly kick into life. Hopefully we aren't gonna be left behind with the signings - and hopefully a bit more exciting than Benayoun. ???

Arsenal without the leadership of henry are going to suffer , i juz think that totenham has a better team now and they gel well towards the end of last season and were playing well , well martin jol can be a clown sumetimes but i think totenham has a better squad with potentials.

Some funny stuff from Arsenal 606:

Now Henry has gone we must buy Berbatov The money can be used to fund this and my sources have confirmed he is willing to come

If anyone was to leave Barca it would be dinho for me and not Eto'o.  However I dont think either will leave!! A 4-2-4 system would be a joy to watch.

Ronaldinho believes Barcelona need to start from scratch if they are to bounce back next season and admitted that he had not been fully fit all season.

The Brazilian is keen to see the outcome of the Blaugrana's summer rebuilding plans, but is equally looking forward to taking a holiday after missing out on a break last year.

Club president Joan Laporta has said that new rules of conduct will be introduced, as the players have not always lived up to their responsibilities in recent months.

"We have to start from zero if we are to build a team to win the league again," Ronaldinho said to Barca TV.

"We have all made mistakes of some variety during the season.

"In every aspect we could have done things better."

After being criticised for his drop in form during last season, Ronaldinho has defended himself and said that the lack of a break last summer was crucial.

"I came straight from the World Cup and started working and that hampered me a great deal," he continued.

"I went through the year without feeling my best and that made me tired. I was never 100 per cent.

"I have not been criticised any more than any other player.

"When we win everyone says good things and when we do not everyone looks for the reasons. Sometimes they find things that do not exist."

Reflecting on Laporta's plans to implement new rules, Ronaldinho said that he would just have to wait and see what ideas were being planned.

"He has the right to see things his way, but the players have not changed anything.

"Now we just have to wait and see what decisions are made.

"I have worked with many coaches and different presidents and each has their own way of working and I have never had any problems."

Following weeks of speculation over his future, Ronaldinho has stated that he has no intention of changing clubs and is looking forward to returning for pre-season training next month.

"I am happy here. Now I am looking forward to a holiday and then I will return to play for Barca," he concluded.

Toure is a defensive midfielder they have signed:

Yaya Toure is expected in Barcelona this weekend to wrap up his move to the Camp Nou.

Spanish daily Sport reports the Monaco midfielder will become Barca's first signing of the summer when terms are agreed and a medical is passed.

Toure's agent Dimitri Selluyk will arrive in Barcelona on Friday to continue talks before the Ivory Coast international joins him on Sunday during a break in his holiday.

Monaco are close to an accord with the Catalan club on the sale of Toure and now Barcelona must complete negotiations with the player.

According to Sport, Toure has been offered a four-year contract worth €2million (£1.35m) per season by Barca.

Barcelona hope to seal the signing of the former Olympiakos man by Monday and Ivory Coast boss Uli Stielike has backed the capture.
"As a footballer he is a rock, a beast, and he is technically perfect," Stielike said.

"At first he may appear slow for his stature, he gives a sensation of being slow, but it is in the first four or five metres that he is very quick. He is very intelligent and reads the game superbly.

"Before he was seen as an attacking player, but I think he is better in a more defensive role in front of the backline.

"That does not take anything away from him or make him less important, because he is still dangerous in attack at set pieces.

"He is also great at winning back possession and starting attacking moves with a good first pass.

"Toure is a very good player who could adapt to Barcelona's style because he is physically strong, has incredible technique and can pass."

I still think Arsenal can be in the top 4 ahead of Spurs.  Wenger will sign players, he has to.  Van Persie can score goals, the kids will be better.

Wenger must be gutted , 16 mill for Henry still leaves him a million short to sign Bent as a replacement

I'm now finally convinced (if i wasn't before) that football has now gone completely nuts .
