If we are willing to spend 24 mill on Torres, then why not sell Bellamy,  Momo, and Luis Garcia add it to the 25 mill and go after Eto Villa, or Tevez.

Got to agree with that. There's something in the rumours that said Torres is coming and Garcia going the other way..... frankly speaking, i wouldn't swap Garcia for Torres...hell No!!

I might swap the two because I see Luis Garcia as someone without a specific role at the club.  He is pretty decent player who can sometimes make some nice short runs deep in attack and somehow scored in big games, but I only see him as a utility player who can play in a lot of places on the pitch but is rarely your first pick.  At least with Torres we would know where to play him and it would just be a matter of can he make it in the Prem or not and there would certainly be a chance that he could come and score goals for us.

Regardless, he is 2nd tier.  If we want to WIN the league not just do well we really need one of the big 3 "available" strikers from this summer (i guess Henry would make 4 but I dont see it happening although i would take him).  and it looks like the kitty that Rafa is going to get isnt going to be enough for that. SO WHAT sell to make room! Bellamy is on his way out, Luis Garcia although useful could be worth more to us in helping us upgrade at forward than getting spot starts and coming on as a sub (especially cuz Kewell should be fit on the left and we will have Voronin hopefully as a 4th ST)  And we have a log jam at CM Gerrard and Alonso just signed big contracts Mascherano showed great form last season, Lucas has loads of potential, which makes Momo, who has an injury problem, is a passing liability and offers nothing in attack, spare parts that is worth more to the team in cash than his destorying abilities which will be seldom used.  I can't remember what that Juve rumor offer was for him but it seemed like enough to me.  If Aurellio didn't have fitnes isues I would consider selling Riise too, whatever it takes to raise the neccessary funds.  Hell, maybe once the Americans see how desperate Rafa is to riase the cash for one of these strikers then they will pony up some more cash.

While its great to have the extra money to bring in players of so-called 'worldclass' ability what we still need is a striker to move up to that next level much as Henry did at Arsenal and Drogba has recently done at Cheski. Neither of these players were considered worldclass before there signings, both had a few good seasons in B standard leagues, Drogba in fact had 1 good season at Marseille, who sold him for £27m straight after it, (and still can't afford to BUY Cisse) and Henry was on the bench at Juventus (and a winger). So even if we bring in a striker at £20m, it does'nt guarentee success. Just watch the boy Kuijt - this is his season

Don't get sucked into the paper talk about LFC not being able to afford to pay £27m for Torres.

We are simply in a negotiating pahse.

Torres is desparate to join the Red's, the player has already been sounded out and his Agent prepared for talking.

Madrid are now in a corner, they are saying they will not reduce the price, we are saying sorry can't afford that much. We need the palyer, but Madrid need the money to move on, they can only win if Torres shows an interest in another competing club.  It is all down to Torres!!

At the end of day, whichever club blinks loses a few million, unless Torres takes a fancy to another club. In which case we don't want him anyway !!

Torres is a Red in waiting !!  :;):

Latest on SSN is that Cisse may be used as part of the Torres deal.
Hope it goes through as I think the boy is young enough to develop and improve into a world class striker.

Torres would be a good signing but Atletico are stubborn and I can't see them lowering the price!!

We defo need sum1 like him now........Villa has signed a new deal with Valencia.

Eto will stay at Barca now he has Henry as a partner.

Time is ticking away for us to bring in a descent striker!!!!

Hi, Im from spain, but I love Liverpool Football club.
I hope that the liverpool does not contract Torres because he is the most overvalued played in the spanish league...
here in spain, newspapers says that liverpool will spend about 36 millions euro in Torres...
