Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I would love to see Milto and Torres at the club it would be a great striking partnership. I have seen Milto a lot of times and he is the man who you need in the box at the right time and Torres could suply and score in equal numbers.

Incidentally, it sounds like Kanoute's going to Portsmouth for around £7m.

He was a bit hit and miss at Spurs and West Ham, but if we're buying strikers on what they've produced in La Liga, a deal of £7m for him looks a sh*tload better than £17m for Torres.

I really, really hope he's not the player we're betting everything on going into next season. He's got "Kezman" written all over him.

Poster 1: Just heard in the cope, he's going. Everybody to Neptuno (a famous place where they celebrate things)

Poster 2: He's going every year, don't you know that?

Poster 3: He was gone the last year and the year before.

The first posts are of disbelief, as they don't trust the press. As the thread advances, the disbelief becomes rage. Then a respected poster says it's all bóllocks, and they're quiet again. But then someone links a goal.com article talking about LFC officials being in Madrid and the rage starts again. At page 11, they don't know what to believe.

He's an icon there, because he popped up when their team was relegated.

Not that he's not good. He is good. *BUT HE WON'T BE THE SUPER MASSIVE STRIKER YOU LOT ARE WAITING FOR* and we'll have to pay too much money for that

Sounds like this place!
Nice to know that we're all the same no matter what club we support (well, except Everton. They all just sound like they're dribbling).

Im not going to lie, im struggling to contain my excitement with this one. I really hope this has legs and its not just another rumour that we have been use to of late.  We have been linked with so many players, its very hard to get excited.  The fact that it has come from the liverpool echo though must surely mean something.

I know that people have their doubts about Torres but i really get a good feeling about the lad.  The only downside is teh talk of exchanging players, would be gutted if luis was to leave.

i was really excited at the thought of torres but after reading and respecting sabres many insights into torres and his development over the last couple of seasons i am doubtful that he would have a great time in our league and would need time at least to try and curb his divin

for me bent at 17 mill is a joke

eto or henry is never going to happen

owen , even thou i would love it to work and be more of a sucess than robbie coming back i just can't see him playing the way rafa likes his front men to play,  all hold up and building from midfield
owen is goals and goals alone

huntalar is a good shout

Torres = Morientes MKII. 82 goals in 212 appearences. Falls down down way to easily and on top of that is a 12-15 goal a season striker IMO. Kuyt/Crouch are all capable of this. Will struggle in the EPL Hate to say it, but someone like RvN/Drogba is what we need, striker who the opposition defence see and :censored: themselves. Much rather E'to

RvN - dream on.

and as for Drogba...most people thought he cost more than he should have, and would never score the amount of goals that he has.

In the end of the day the only thing that matters is that Rafa gets the player he wants....
then lets see......

schevwanko = proven = 30 mill and :censored:.
Drogba = unproven (one good season in france) and awesome
B.McCarthy = 1.5 mill = lethal in prem

money, stats and expectation mean diddly squat...lets wait and see.

Torres has a few things going for him. He has good touch,  is quite fast and good in the air. He can also run with the ball and create chances for others. Whether he can score enough goals.........? If he comes we will find out soon enough. I havn't seen much of him apart from at the WC but from what I have seen I don't think he's as bad as some are making out.(Hopefully)

Only someone like Dinho can be describes as having a poor season even though he scored so many.

I am not convinced about Torres.  Its a lot of money for someone with not the greatest goal record.

Is this the max we can pay though?  Maybe we cant afford anyone else.

I would prefer Hunterlaar though!!!!!

I know, everyone says hes had a poor season but hes played left wing and scored 21 goals with probably countless assists.

Imagine if jermaine pennant scored 21 league goals for us.  :upside:

Goal tally can lie about the quality of a player like Villa, especially if you look at one season, and especially if you only look at goal tally.

Torres

Minutes 3258
Shots 101
Goals 14
Assists 4

Villa

Minutes 3022
Shots 130
Goals 15
Assists 11

Villa might have scored less this season, but the threat he generates is always bigger.

Yeah i understand that....
but my pointis when chelsea gambled on an unproven Drogba it paid of.
They then splashed the cash on the best striker in the world at the time, and it didnt.
