i think benyoun is a decent player who will provide good back up for the squad but I had my sights set in higher quality such as simao (any news on this btw?). I remember in the FA cup final in particular he was fantastic for WHU.

Sorry but £5m is a bit pricey for him, I agree with redtrader, £3m and thats fine with me

More on th Benayun story from Israeli TV :

Sagi Cohen, the top soccer comentator for Israeli sports channel said tonight :
If he signs with Liverppol he will not be a starter. He will be a player you use in special games, and when nothing else works. Benayun bring some qualeties no other LFC player has (ball controll). For example he could be used in the final against Milan in the 70th minute when you see that nothing works ...
If it is up to him, he MUST sign. It is his best chance to upgrade to a top team.

Also, they were talking about 7 Million that WHU wants for Yossi, and that Yossi's agent is trying to take the price down.

I agree :) I think I stated already somewhere else that big names must be signed up, but this decent players aswell.

Can anyone confirm me if he's been playing the right ?

He played all over the midfield for West Ham last season, he didn't really have a fixed position in the team.

But in 2005-2006 season he played at his best when he played pre-dominantly right rooted down the left wing.

Offer some money and Zenden, in exchange for Yossi's Giants.

ye what im trying to say is it dosnt suit stevies game to hang of the striker, so assuming leiva is similar to stevie its not going to be his prefered role either.

regardless, assuming the role i expect leiva to play next season there will be enough space in the squad a player like benayoun. if his only coming for 1 or 2mil and if he is going to be back up for garcia i really dont see the problem.

Benayoun is a good football player, but won't upgrade the team at all. Where will he play?
He will cost at least 6m I am sure and unless we are selling someone dividing up the funds and spend on a bunch of players makes no sense since we have so many squad players already.
A waste of 6m and the chance to become the laughing stock by manure and Chelski fans.

I am desperate for a quality player but every indication so far, (I said so far) points to that we can't ever spend 20m for any player. How on earth will we ever be able to compete if not?

Never, that's when. Our highest fee paid under rafa is 10.5m. That is so pathetic I wanna cry. That's less than Chelski pays for it's benchwarmers and manure pays for their squad players.

So, I am depressed. But there has been no evidence what so ever that Rafa actually can get his top targets and that there is loads of money to spend. Only reports from everywhere telling the exact opposite.

I too am worried about the perceived lack of movement in the transfer market. We need to get the new players in before the pre-season starts so we have enough time to blend them into the team. I would expect LFC to keep mum about any deals there are currently doing, but I would expect surely some would be closed by now? Bayern Munich have already FINISHED their summer signing spree while Man.ure have also closed 2 deals. I sincerely hope our non presence in the market so far is NOT an indication that we cannot close deals, or worse, that our new owners are not following up on their promise to spend.

Yossi is a good player, and I believe will be worth his place (but maybe not for 5M). Bear in mind Zenden and Gonzalez (and may Kewell) will go so our LM is in dire need of players. Our RM is not that hot either. (By the way, what exactly is Benayoun's positions?)

But we need a really kick-@ss signing to show that we mean business. Someone that can walk straight into our first team.

I actually think he is quite a player. He offers something that few of our players offer: unpredictability. I remember seeing him play us in FA cup final and thinking we should get him. He is the playmaker for the West Ham, he carries the ball reasonably well and offers some creativity  If we are talking about 3M, I feel that we should go for it.

The negative part is that, he is a bit lightweight, resulting in him losing balls when the going get tough. As a result, he may go missing against physical teams.

Having type all that, I just realize that I might as well be typing the above for Garcia! :p

Don't worry Ciggy, he will only be part of our team, only one of our signings, and if as hoped no more than £3m, decent business.

I hope       :sniffle
