Well, the window may be 90 days but it is vital we get all the new players in before training camp starts.
Cause it is so important to have all the players playing together and grow an understanding in training than having to wait until the season start.
Otherwise the odds of a slow start will be very high again.

August is not a month to strengthen your squad.
Competetive matches are already there then and all new buys during that time just spells panic to me.

I'm not saying we should wait until August, I'd expect a lot of business to be done within June. 9 days for christ sake and the alarm bells are ringing!!!

Once again, i dont recall anywhere in my posts that IMO i was being pessimistic and where did i jump to the conclusion that Rafa wasnt backed ? You have misinterpreted a question i asked or to put it another way YOU have jumped to a conclusion :rasp

, i didnt say I felt he wasnt , i also said IMO i dont think that Rafa would be asking for the funds to sign the two players mentioned and that there was no official statement to suggest otherwise ?

One last thing, although it was in a reply to a post that you made i didnt actually call you smug, i mentioned no names ( paranoia ) :eyebrow

"Not really Liverpool related as such, but it just goes to show you ( if reports regarding Bent and Forlan are to believed )that we are going to be miles behind them come the start of the season !"

La Liga is a league we are hotly tipped to sign players from.

By who, the same sort of people who are linking us to Bent and Forlan and therefore making me paranoid :rasp

Well you clearly haven't got a clue what Paranoia is.

Making a REASONABLE assumption that we are likely to sign players from La Liga given Rafa's past record of doing so - that is your definition of Paranoia hey!!!!

I am fully aware of what Paranoia is , you can chose to dress your statement up any way you wish, but IMO waiting for the Spanish league to end because of Rafas past record of signing players from there is no different than saying it is a reasonable assumption that we could sign Bent or Forlan ?

You 'reasonably assume' he is waiting for the spanish league to end to sign spanish players or players who play in spain why ? because he has before, i could easily 'reasonably assume' he is going to buy second rate players because he has before ?

Since the end of the season there has been a rabid obsession about who is coming in, lots of posters getting heated up, on massive highs and massive lows after every unsubstantiated Rumour.

We have been linked with so many players, one minute we think we have 100m to spend (who has ever spent that in one summer? only chelski come close, reality check pls) the next we are apparently potless!

Listen to the actual quotes, what did Hicks say, 'we had a signing that the fans will be really excited about' He would be suitably embarressed should this turn out to be untrue, i doubt a man of his position would be so naieve.

Rafa had a strategic meeting with the owners after his 'outburst', he was happy and didn't resign.

Our 5 most important players have re-signed, surely a sign that the transfers in, and budget are at the very least promising.

The owners are promising us a fucking boss stadium, i guess that means they don't want it empty, so logically they must be delivering a decent budget.

We were told should Rafa want 'snoogy Doogy' (I'll Google him later!) that he'll be backed all the way.

It is only 9 days into the transfer window, and 2 weeks since the season has ended, the vast majority of players sold so far have been out of contract or the very young, the established players will take more than a few days, first to be allowed to speak to them by their current clubs, convince them to come and agree terms.

These are the simple facts and logical inferences from what OUR people have so far said and done, now you can base your posts on the Club, owners, manager and players reactions or what some sports journos who have nothing to write about have to say in their unsourced unquoted articles.

This has nothing to do with the 'in Rafa we trust' brigade, more 'in LFC we trust', it is the club/owners who need to provide the funds for Rafa to spend. IMHO i doubt much more than £35m plus who we sell, and this would be largest transfer budget in our history.

I think the time for mass hysteria is when we don't get any top players, who knows we may get an Eto ( i doubt it) Or Bent (Pls NO), or some real information from the Club, until then the pessimism is unwarranted.

I don't reasonably assume he is waiting for the Spanish league to end, I reasonably assume that either a) Spanish clubs may not want distracted and b) there may be deals done, but not ANNOUNCED until AFTER it has ended to avoid DISTRACTION.

That is a REASONABLE ASSUMPTION.

Signing Forlan or Bent is not a reasonable assumption as there is no EVIDENCE other than COMPLETE RUMOUR that we are interested in them, just like 20 million other players.

How can you not understand that???

Do you think he would set out to sign second rate players given his intent to bring in two or three top players worth "10-15m". We have not had the FUNDS to bring in top class before, now we do, that is why I believe it is not reasonable to assume we will bring in second rate players.
