Rafas shrewdness he has shown in the past could also manifest in selling players. 12Mil - no way

"The Lyon chairman, Jean-Michel Aulas, has increased Malouda's price tag from £12m to £17m since the Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, was linked to his player."

What BS.

Latest French media report on the Cisse move to Marseille is Marseille offered £6 mil which Parry refused.  Since then Rafa has spoke to Cisse and Cisse has told him he does not want to join another english side and wants to go to L'OM.  L'OM have proposed another loan deal with a promise to pay 7 million Euro's next year and all his wages during the loan deal.

I dont think Liverpool will agree to this but if the player refuses to go anywhere else both parties are stuck.

I was bemused by the reports about not making any "panic buys", like Rafa's just going to rip up his long term target list and go out and try and land someone just to spend the cash.

Reds chief refuses to panic buy

Liverpool's co-owner George Gillett insists he will sanction the level of spending that boss Rafa Benitez has demanded - but not for the sake of it.
Reds fans have become frustrated with the club's lack of action in the transfer market so far this summer.

Gillett told The Times: "I sense that kind of pressure building from the media - but we are working on things.

"Rafa has a programme under way and, as that unfolds, that will be the time for us to be judged, not now."

He talks like Rafa only arrived this summer and hasn't had time to get his network of scouts to check players out. What we don't need is transfers blocked because they are expensive and going for our second choice target which is what happens too often.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Maybe if he changed his birth certificate to state that he's actually English all along, that we'd get 12 mill for him.

Anyway, I expect some news this week and no later about our transferes now that La Liga has ended. It's also worrying seeing that one of our so called "done deals" in Alves isn't as nailed down as we'd all hoped. Real Madrid, having just won the title, are interested in him, along with other top names about. I can't honestly see him coming here now if Madrid are prepared to splash the cash whe we obviously are not!
