Last season we dominated most of the games against the top 4, with the acception of Arsenal. We bossed the Mancs home and away, and the same with Chelsea. On any given day, I'd say we can be at a level beyond that of any of the teams of the top four, IMO. If you ask me if these players will improve out chances of getting closer to winning it, I'd have to say no. They'd make good additions to the squad, but they certainly wouldn't have a massive impact on it. Not the calibre of player I'd want to see join us, and I'd be bitterly disappointed if we spent heavy on the likes of Bent.

Bossed the mancs home and away?  We were awful at Old Trafford and didnt create anything.  Chelsea away we played well but deserved to win?  I wouldnt say so.

The next level isnt about beating the top 4.  Its the ability to win week in week out home and away.  Its the ability to win games when going behind.

I think we did. From a footballing point of view, we battered them. To say we were awful doesn't paint an acurate picture of those games at all. We played some good stuff, and tactically Rafa got one over on his rivals. We were good in most areas, all apart from one obvious one, and that was the front line. As I recall, we were robbed at Anfield and at Stamford Bridge. Of you look at the games where we lost crucial points, at least 10 were from the top four. Had we taken all those points, then we'd be breathing down the Manc's neck come the end of the past season there.

Imagine him sitting in the Kop?
Whats he gona do fight with everyone? When they call players and refs every name under the sun?
Cant believe a little joke turned into another spat from some one NOT from Liverpool.
I got pissed on in the dads and lads when I was six at Anfield imagine that happening to him now
Topic totally ruined thru one single joke unbelievable.  :no

Imagine me sitting in the KOP right?

Just like I have been doing most of last season - that has sweet :censored: all to do with what you said in any case , there's a big feckin difference between calling the ref a crock of sh!te and taking the :censored: out of Rocky dennis. A disabled kid who died at 16, I think you should get a fecking grip. I have nothing but sympathy for people like that kid, what the feck do you do if the almighty deals you a sh!t hand in life? It's a disability FFS and it's bang out of order.

As for Bamaga, Jade Goody isn't disabled, get a clue.

The film portrayed his life, you said Rocky Dennis anyway not Michael J fox in the film "Mask". It's out of order, would you say that about someone you knew who was disabled? I wouldn't because it's out of order.

There you go again off on your high horse, and taken everything so personally. Where did I say Jade Goody was disabled ? I didnt. For the sake of Politcial correctness, something which is obviously very sensitive towards you In this case I  specifically refrained from using disabled people in my comment, in order to prevent leftOpinkos' like you throwing your toys out the pram. As I result of that you tell me Jade Goody isnt disabled ???

You need to get the clue WUM.

On the question of the joke about the disabled kid, I think a bit of give and take along with common sense is called for on both sides. Whilst I think it's fair to point out that nobody on here would knowingly and with malice mock a kid who died at sixteen (least of all posters with young children of their own), I think it's also fair to point out that if somebody is offended by the reference, they are entitled to say so without being belittled or ganged up on.

The options are to close the thread, or to ask people to accept the other persons point of view, ie either a) the joke was made in the spirit of having watched the film recently, was meant to be a throwaway funny and not taken too seriously and was not meant as a slight against some kid who died at sixteen, or b) the fact that somebody found the remark in bad taste doesn't mean they don't understand scouse humour or indeed any humour, doesn't mean they are a PC bigot or a bit wet behind the ears.
I've gone for the latter course, not closing the thread but asking people to have a bit of respect for the other persons stance, even if they can't agree with it. Hopefully we can all do that.

Thats fair enough, and I'm sure there was no malice in the comment. That is why I didnt take it seriously and saw the funny side.

But if somebody doesnt like it, shouldnt they report it to the Mods. I think sometimes people are just awkward for the sheer sake of being awkward, or to get a bit of attention. The thread didnt have to descend into anything,  I think a pinch of salt would of gone a long way, no but as usual an argument is flaired instead.

Interesting article that one Scottbot, it's nice to see Gary Lineker has respect to Rafa and Liverpool Football Club.

For me it's interesting because I don't know well the player apart from what I read from yous and I read in the press, as I don't remember much of that lad.

I don't think in case he comes he will be the main signing up for upfont, but it seems it's a good replacement for Bellamy, and probably with more projection. Of course as a foreigner I'm nobody to say what I like in Liverpool, but I wouldn't like a Liverpool of 11 foreign super stars, and it's nice Liverpool has 2 local players in the key player group, and also a selection of good english players like Pennant, Crouch, and Bent.

The English players that come to Liverpool must be either internationals or close to be internationals for their country. I like the fact Rafa is bringing this kind of quality. Same applies to Spaniards, who are also a potent squad, only Spanish that are internationals (Reina, Alonso, LG) or are on the verge of it should be brought.

If we add  to this group of excellent/good players someone "big" upfront, then we'll make a massive step in quality.

Another possibility is that old stubborn Rafa thinks that Kuyt is really the man we need. He said before he bought him he'd score plenty of goals, maybe it will be next season, after his decent/good first season. But I would bring a quality striker myself, and I think we will, apart from Bent, as I don't think Voronin will be a very important player in the squad, and we have to replace both Bellamy and Fowler if they leave.

4 strikers is the least we can have to play so many competitions, 5 strikers would be to have plenty of options like in midfield, and that's a good thing. Maybe not for the 5th striker, but yes for the team.
