F*cking Mancs. This is all their fault.

Let's face it - you don't put two strikers on the market if you don't have the means to at least adequately replace them. We're not a selling club.
Patience, patience, patience! It really is still very early days in the window. I think the Mancs early deals have rattled a lot of people - if their big 3 deals hadn't happened, I think this board would be a hell of a lot calmer.

If that is the case it probably means we are fooked, unless we have a couple of budding young superstars hiding in the youth teams. If Rafa doesn't get the backing he craves this summer i'd bet on him saying 'adios' and heading to Madrid this time next year, simple as that really. However, i'm still hopeful there is a decent transfer pot for the boss to spend. There's no point revising stadium plans to increase capacity if you're not serious about creating the team required to fill it on cold Wednesday nights against the likes of Wigan and Bolton. The truth is that no-one knows how much money there is to spend. All the initial talk of a huge transfer war-chest was pretty much fuelled by a couple of interviews from Hicks. And now we are reading stories to say there is no REAL money there at all. Once again this has simply been fuelled by our lack of tranfer activity (so far) and a couple of comments from Gillette.
I simply can't believe that Darren Bent is the summit of our ambitions this off-season. We have read how Rafa has had some very positive meetings with the owners over the last couple of months and that he was very happy with the outcome (he must have been to turn down Madrid again.) I can't imagine that he would be happy to be told he needed to sell first or that 13/14 million was the maximum he would be able to shell out on anyone player.
It's really difficult to play the waiting game plus ignore all thein the press because we are all so desperate to see some big players come in but i'm trying to remain patient and see what happens once La Liga spells the official end to the football season in Europe.
And as for Benayoun, I wouldn't panic everyone. I'm happy with Pennant or Gerrard on the right but he would be a useful player to have in the squad. If we then look to spend a similar amount on a player for the left wing, that's when it's time to worry!

Personally, I think the recent 'more modest' names we are being linked to is a big smokescreen to mask the fact that we're negotiating for some true quality behind the scenes. I mean, when was the last time you've heard of us confirming a transfer rumour rather than announcing the deal once it's done? Yet, that's apparently what Parry has done with Benayoun, which leads me to think that the plan is to let the press run with that and think we have no money, in order to help with the negotiations for Malouda, Simao, Tevez or whoever. That's not to say that Benayoun won't be signed...he may indeed be brought in but I really don't think he is the height of our ambitions this summer (and I'd be very surprised if we signed Bent, TBH...that one's pure smokescreen and/or paper talk, for me).
I think we'll still be a better team next season even if Bent and Beanyoun are all we sign.
