Links the play, physically strong, tracks back, is tactically disciplined and aware, strong in the air, powerful strike, he is a solid workhorse of a player who creates and links the midfield to the attack.

I agree, and a just decent goal tally of one season, doesn't mean we won't have a great tally next season. Not every player that eventually has been a success started scoring a lot the first season.

IMHO, sometimes I feel as if people doesn't value Kuyt as he deserves. Pretty much the same feeling for Crouchy, btw.

well signing both anelka and micheal owen would solve our problem in the striker department...both can be signed for say around 25 million pound (max)...proven premiership goalscorers..both learned their lessons :p  bolton willing to part with anelka and owen has a buyout clause

anelka kuyt owen crouch veronin.....
and surely both of them won't hesitate to join us.....

Eto'o seems to be staying at Barca.

Villa said he's staying at Valencia.

I doubt we could afford either of them, or Tevez.

Not sure whether Torres could adapt to the Prem.

I cannot understand why anyone would want Anelka, the guy has never settled at one club, and is not a team player with respect to tracking back, defending etc.
His 6 months with us do not constitute a change in his much publicised troublesome personality, that was essentially a job interview, any idiot would realise that to earn a contract it would be in his best interest to bahave.
Buying him would also be another stop gap, he must be about 30, this season has to be about buying the best and the best potential, neither of which is Anelka.

anelka has much more quality than bellamy...way better finisher...and he's just as pacy if not more...so why not?

I do agree that he's been often crticised more because of his reputation...i don't remember him making problems when he was at liverpool...it was stupid houllier that stupidly didn't keep him...and now he is very consistent at bolton as well...putting in good performances up front consistently...

I agree that he's a bit more of a selfish player type but isn't that the kind of striker we need now?

I agree it won't be a star signing but it will still be a very decent signing...just like it was the first time imo...

People talking about signing Torres....bad idea. He's not that good in La Liga and i just dont think that he'll succeed in the Premier League. He's definitely going to a flop. Better spend the fund on somebody else.... if we can't get top strikers such as eto , Vila  etc..we can go for Micheal...as last resort signing.

anelka claims to have ''unfinished business'' with liverpool. i wonder what that kuld be. but i wont mind him at all. huntelaar, anelka, owen are good options. hopefully we sign one of them. looks ever so likely tevez is gonna be with his argentinians at inter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it well known that Rafa is no big fan of Torres, not at the prices that have been bandied about anyway? I've heard he's always viewed Torres as more potential than a ready made top class player, when you'd want the finished article for the fees that are always talked about with Torres.

If the price was reasonable and he couldn't get the players he really wanted, I wouldn't rule this one out. I don't think its exactly a secret how much Torres fancies joining his big buddy Pepe at Anfield. Maybe that will help keep the price down, who knows.

Personally I'm not really a big fan of Torres, but then I'm not overly excited by any of the forwards we are being linked with since Eto'o and Tevez were removed from the picture.

If i am being completely honest, it is the prospect of signing Torres that excites me the most.  I think that many on here will agree that Eto, Villa and Tevez would be the ideal targets but they seem to be out of our reach from the early signals.

I admit that i have not seen half as much of Torres as a lot of you may have but what i have seen is lots of potential. He is a young spanish international with bags of pace and plenty of ability, i really feel that supporters will take to him and he could be a great signing for us.  He would also settle in very easy with the Spanish guys.  Torres would be very hungry in my opionion, he would only leave madrid if he was ready to do so and wanted to face a bigger challenge and mix it with some of the best in the world.  That alone can only be a good thing for LFC. This coupled with the fact that he would cost maybe half the price of Eto and Villa would be a massive benefit.

The prospect of signing the likes of Eto for £35million scares me a bit to be honest and i think it will add a great deal of pressure to Liverpool FC as a football club.  Dont get me wrong, i would love to sign Eto but hopefully you get what i am trying to say.

In summary, bring on Torres!

Personally I would accept any striker who is better than all we have and Torres is one of them.I prefer Tevz, Villa and Eto'o but realistically Rafa wont buy them.
