I've been here 3 years and any time it's mentioned is often to insult or something :D IN my country it's quite allowed and chances are the police won't tell you anything if you're smoking a marihuana fag in the beach at night. But I think for what I have read that doesn't apply to England. Do the lads and overall young people smoke that kind of drugs? Do you think it should be legal, like alcohol? after all, it's a drug like alcohol, with some different effects (for instance it doesn't provoke violence).

disgraceful filthy habit

:p

cant speak for everyone but most all people who smoke would have the occasional joint... no harm, dunno what the offcial stance is now legally as its always changing but pretty shure its just a slap on the wrists if caught with not much

So what's worse, Dawson, puffing on a spliff or downloading a movie from the internet?  Both are illegal after all, right?  ???  :D

i personally do neither bob :p

downloading from the internet to me is on apar from buying fake tickets to a footy game or using touts. just think tis wrong. Cannabis is a delicate issue. Should it be leaglised? Well then the governmanet could make a mint on the tax front.

as for me, i say drugs are bad m'kay, well, not that bad, they arent as good as they used to be anyways :p

my moral boundaries? ok, serisouly: cannabis should be legal, or more decriminalised. as for other drugs... well people do them anyway... not saying me of course :;):

my moral boundaries really come down to theft, i think its wrong to say 'well they wont miss it'.

plus now im trying to sort out sky as im losing all my fave shows. films downloaded from some dodgy torrent tho has to cost the business, and altho this wont affect the 'blockbusters' it will affect the small independants further down the ladder.

now back to smoke. i love to smoke.

Okay, so if we can convince you that second-hand smoke "steals" the health of those around you, will you concede the debate?  ???  :D

plus, it makes me look cool :D

all ive said is i agree with most of it, but in cities where pubs are OWNED, it should be up to the owner whther or not his premises allow smoking. let the poeple decide.

Fine, yes, let the people decide.  I suspect that most pubs would end up having both smoking and non-smoking rooms as a result or a smoker's patio outside so as to appease the greatest number of patrons.  So, it would be pretty much status quo, I guess.

Personally, I can see both sides of the issue when it comes to smoking in pubs.  Selfishly, I prefer it when people are asked to smoke outside but I do recognize the hardship of doing that in Canada in the dead of winter.  :D  On the flip side, I concede that, often times, the smokers make up the lion's share of the pub's business and perhaps should be catered to more than us non-smokers, who only pop round for an occasional drink anyway.

What I'm really saying is that I'm not that bothered either way and am only posting on the subject because I'm bored at work and there's feck all else to talk about on here.  Having said that...lunch time! :D

Cars are a tool that many people require in order to do their jobs.

Use may be a correct word. Require, I don't think so. People could go to work in bus or metro, but they choose to add polution to the atmosphere for their comfort. Some people could meet and join to go to work in the same car, but they preffer to drive one car each.

Alcohol doesn't kill? it's statistically proved the amount of accidents caused by alcohol, stablish a relationship between certain murders and alcohol, and list a number of health troubles that eventually lead to death because alcohol.

But there's not a Spanish Inquisition against drinkers, where as, in certain politically correct enterprises one of the question they make you when you apply for a job is whether you're a smoker. And this politically correct brigade has started to act on my country. In real life, I'm also quite polite, but I had some encounters with politically correct brigades. I respect the law concerning tobacco thoroughly, yet, I've been told not to smoke in places that I was allowed to and I had to deal with some discussions due to tobacco. All that despite I'm a guy that even if it's allowed I ask first wheter if anybody mind if I smoked. Some discussions came after that kind of offers... they just had to say "no" or "yes" to my polite permission request, and I wouldn't have lit a cig, but they chose to say a rant, and of course I answer.

My point. Tobacco is bad. So is alcohol. So is everything, like too much polution produced by the cars. So let's have common sense, analyse all the dangers, make laws according to the analisys of the dangers, and that's it. But let's not treat smokers as criminals. Not that I've seen such a thing in this thread eh? I'm talking about some P.C brigaders and some advertising in the TV, and some abusive questions in job employment.

For some people it is not feasible to use public transport, it is also unreliable and expensive - maybe not in Spain but it is here.

Cars pollute, so do power stations, so does industry, so do cows breaking wind. These are things our world depends on, whether you like it or not - our country is dependant on private transport as well as public transport as well as power stations as well as cows.

Alcohol doesn't kill, alcohol in the hands of nutcases and irresponsible people combine to create that possibility.

Drinking in the presence of others does not kill or harm others, smoking does.

Pollution in our atmosphere is drawn from a number of sources and every country in the world is contributing. Smoking is not a necessity, public/private transport is, power stations are and industry is. The analagy is far from accurate.

The laws view on Cannabis over here Sabre is not as relaxed as it is where you are, there a cases where they will let you off if found to be in possesion of it depending on the ammount, other times you will face a charge( sometimes just a caution )

As far as the difference between Cannabis and Cigs people will argue that it is less harmless than cigs but it is in fact just as much  of a health risk as it has a higher tar content than a cig, so smoking cannabis brings the same health problems like bronchitis, emphysema and lung cancer etc,etc

On the plus side ( or the other side of the coin if you like )Its effects are (supposedly) beneficial to sufferers of various medical conditions such as cancer, HIV, multiple sclerosis, and glaucoma.

Just incase you ever wonder why you cant see the sea anymore when you sit on that beach puffing away

Not on a nationwide scale mate, in parts of Liverpool it's ok. You go to the South East and it's a different story, the same way in which it is expensive to travel long distances on the train e.g. in the Southwest if you wanted to travel up north there are long and costly connections.

It's cheaper and more convenient to go by car in many cases.

Plus, Cannabis has a history of causing psychosis, resulting in Schizophrenia and other mental disorders. That is the key difference.
