sorry for being a numpty and not being able to post the link - on Sly Sports Danny Gaab has just said that he really wants Bellamy there and how he would work with Ashton (no mention of Tevez).

Lastest thinking is that Tevez will join us on loan for a year with the option to buy after that .... manure only realised this was on offer a few days ago ... this will leave mega funds for Eto after the La Liga finishes this weekend more on this on Liverpool tv thread

Yes, the Spanish league is not the Armenia, Austria or Belgium league.
There has been a "star exchange" between the two leagues the last decade. On one direction, the likes of VanHorstelroy, Owen, McManaman (I'll include this one among the best of the best), or David Beckham.
On the other direction the likes of Makelele or Alonso, or the less succesful ones like Morientes or Del Porno.
It's only natural this exchange continues, although it seems nowadays England buys more than sells. So it seems the end of the Spanish league will trigger a couple of things in the market, yes.
Another good thing is that Liverpool has nowadays things to trade. Names like Luis Garcia or Sissoko, have a name, a reputation, and accordingly a good value in the market. Names like Biscan, or Traore, not that much.

Rafael BenÍtez, the Liverpool manager, has demanded actions rather than words from the new owners at Anfield, but with the club’s summer being dominated by unrest behind the scenes rather than the top-class signings he was hoping for, their supporters may be partly reassured by yesterday’s address from George Gillett Jr.
BenÍtez is known to have been disgruntled by the lack of progress in his search for reinforcements, particularly in view of Manchester United’s projected £55 million outlay on three new players. The Spaniard has expressed displeasure in conference calls with Rick Parry, the chief executive, and Gillett and Tom Hicks, the co-owners, whose working relationship is not running smoothly, but Gillett moved to defuse the crisis talk yesterday in characteristically colourful terms.
“I read that Rafa is throwing hand-grenades at us and making demands, that there’s a tension or disagreement between him and the Gillett and Hicks families,” Gillett said. “Nothing could be farther from the truth. As far back as February, Rafa laid out a programme for us. Each one of our sports businesses has a core concept. You can’t just flop around looking at opportunities here and there, go left, go right. It has to be part of an integrated plan.
“We have one at Liverpool, one we understand 100 per cent, believe in and support. The plan involves us spending money, but it will be part of a plan, not just spending like a drunken sailor.”
BenÍtez has come to accept that the Americans’ promise of support in the transfer market does not equate to the blank chequebook that he envisaged after his initial conversations. That feeling was reinforced at the weekend, when it emerged that a shopping list previously headed by Samuel Eto’o, the Barcelona forward, includes less inspiring names such as Diego Forlán, the Villarreal striker whose name was synonymous with profligacy during 2½ unsuccessful seasons with Manchester United.
Talks are continuing behind the scenes with a view to signing at least one top-class winger – possibly Mancini, of AS Roma, or Florent Malouda, of Lyons, although the latter is also courting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea – and a centre forward, but these talks have not always been harmonious.
While much has been made of tension between BenÍtez and Parry, particularly about the time of the Champions League final , there have also been disagreements between Gillett and Hicks over the money they should be making available to strengthen the squad.
It is increasingly clear to BenÍtez that his transfer kitty this summer will be more modest than he thought when he was making plans to sign Eto’o. Yet more unproven rumours beefed up with a couple of quotes taken from an interview that doesn't really say anything new.
All of this impatience and anxiety has all been created by the press who've got nothing else to do. I'm looking forward to the first major signing if not only for the reason that it'll shut the journo's up for a couple of days with their unfounded rumours.

I agree mate, it's not like anyone else has done any business, is every fan forum saying the same as ours?
I know the Mancs have spent huge on three players, but if we'd spent that money on those three I would be far less happy than I am in our situation, they have have paid way over the odds for Hargreaves and the other two are a massive gamble.
Who else has bought anyone? Bale to Spurs is about the only decent bit of business done so far by ANYONE!!!!
Players are on holiday, the U21 Euro Championships is just underway and Spain havn't even finished their season yet.
I have said it before but the re-signing of Xabi, Gerrard, Carra and Reina is good business and out the way nice and early (unlike previous summers!!) and now Rafa can focus on bringing in new talent, once Spain finish their league we might see some activity but whatever happens to panic about lack of transfers in early June is just plain ridiculous. I do understand that last summer was very disappointing for some and we did leave things far too late but we are all a little wiser, have new owners and I just think we need a little bit of faith to be honest.

I think that the one factor that has sort of been over looked in causing this uncertainty and growing unhappiness that we aren't going to be signing the likes of Eto'o, Tevez and co. is that the fans and media have all made the assumption that Rafa is gonna have mega bucks to spend on whoever he wants to.
Gillett, Hicks, Parry nor Rafa have ever come out and declared what kind of budget/players they're gonna be attempting to sign.
Apart from in the passage in s@ints above post!

Again that in part is down to them saying whoever Rafa wants we will get, or words to that effect.I don't believe Bent, Forlan etc were Rafa's first choices, and probably not even his second. As with the disappointing news about the stadium, things seem to be less than we had hoped.
