I agree redhayessi that the s** shoudn't be brought here.

But quotes are quotes I guess, and if Allardyce says that is because he has no hopes of keeping Owen.

Which would be the team that is ready to pay such a money (Release-Clause)?. It is quite safe to speculate that it's an English team, as there's not much money in other leagues, I don't see Madrid wanting him back, I don't see Barcelona wanting him, and I think Owen has learnt a couple of lessons since he started abroad adventures.

Back in Madrid, he said clearly he wanted to play for LFC. His former club wanted to sell him, and he said twice no to Newcastle because he wanted to come back here.

If that hasn't changed, and there's a club that is willing to pay a release clause, that might be Liverpool.

IMHO, if you have this group of strikers

a) Crouch, Kuyt, Bellamy, Fowler

and

b) Crouch, Kuyt, Owen, Forlan

It's safe to say the second set is stronger than the first one. Will that be our set of strikers next year? God knows. Enough to challenge a league title? that's debatable. My 2 cents is that yes, it might be if you also strenghten other positions of the pitch.

group B is certainly stronger but i would like to see Bent in there before Owen or Forlan.
Bent is still young and has the ability to score goals and improve.
Owen is injury prone and may not reach the sharpness he once had.
undecided on Forlan and lets not forget Voronin is coming anyway.
Bring in Bent and strengthen other areas with a big impotous on attacking wide players and I think you will see more goals from Kuyt and Crouch.
The 25-35 million pound striker was never going to happen!

I think he's a good striker. But then I think that so is Kuyt. But I think he's worse than Eto'o or Villa, which, in the other hand, are very very very difficult to grab from their club's hands.

Goal tally of a season is not everything for me. I've seen many one year wonders in la Liga. I think he's done around 18 or 19 this season, which doesn't mean that next year he can do the same.

If he comes as the replacement of Fowler, I think he improves the team. If you ask me whether I think he is the striker that many are dreaming of here (I think you say out an out striker, 30 goals striker, etc) then I don't think he is.

i would love owen back.
ok, he wasn't very loyal when he left for real madrid, but i think he has learnt from his mistakes now and he realises liverpool was the best club for him.
i know he also gets a few too many injuries, but for 9million......come on its not mega bucks.
we could splash out around 30million for someone and he may be a flop. atleast we know when owen is 100% fit he bags up goals.

IF we have a chance of getting Owen back and it would involve a swap for Bellamy....get it done. It really is THAT simple !!

13 goals for Madrid (the season's highest ratio of goals scored to number of minutes played)  and 14 appearances 7 goals for Newcastle !  Top,Top Class Striker :nod

But...( Disclaimer )because i have yet to speak to either Owen or Fat Sam personally, i wont  believe a word of it until it happens :p
