I agree redhayessi that the s** shoudn't be brought here.
But quotes are quotes I guess, and if Allardyce says that is because he has no hopes of keeping Owen.
Which would be the team that is ready to pay such a money (Release-Clause)?. It is quite safe to speculate that it's an English team, as there's not much money in other leagues, I don't see Madrid wanting him back, I don't see Barcelona wanting him, and I think Owen has learnt a couple of lessons since he started abroad adventures.
Back in Madrid, he said clearly he wanted to play for LFC. His former club wanted to sell him, and he said twice no to Newcastle because he wanted to come back here.
If that hasn't changed, and there's a club that is willing to pay a release clause, that might be Liverpool.
IMHO, if you have this group of strikers
a) Crouch, Kuyt, Bellamy, Fowler
and
b) Crouch, Kuyt, Owen, Forlan
It's safe to say the second set is stronger than the first one. Will that be our set of strikers next year? God knows. Enough to challenge a league title? that's debatable. My 2 cents is that yes, it might be if you also strenghten other positions of the pitch.
