Sabre, mate with all due respect - every rumour is just that - Unfounded.

Just because someone has a link to some news article doesn't make it a better rumour than one initiated and posted by someone on this site.

Let's all just try and enjoy these rumours while they last  :D

I take your point that we should be a bit more optimistic and trusting of the management to learn from mistakes, but you can't fault people for having an opinion due to historical precendence (ie: transfer results last year).

so if you dont know we are interested in players then surely thats a rumour on your part,

we are interested in alves, we are not interested in alves, where is the difference, neither is based on fact.

just dont start laying down the law sabre, its not needed

The latter is based on a quote of one of our staff Peewee!! the former is not.

Simari, I can't see the contradiction, but it's probable I write my idea wrongly, can you point me out where the contradiction is?

my opinions are rumors

I don't understand this. You can have an opinion about rumours. But your opinions are not rumours, it's your opinion.

For instance, if a rumour says that Xabi makes an ultimatum so that he plays the final or he leaves, you can say "hey that's unacceptable if true". That's an opinion on a rumour. But you shouldn't say "Xabi must go, or Xabi is selfish" because you don't know if the rumour is true. That's what I meant.

and you know full well that i am using alves as an example, i could have used any name to make the point

now stop preaching to people or expect some people to respond with comments you wont like, quite simple really mate, dont light a fire then complain when it burns you.

lets not forget you also discuss rumours sabre, so its a bit wrong to criticise people for doing likewise. but like i say at the moment all we have is rumours and speculation, thats what we are all discussing or there would be nothing to discuss.

every player mentioned that we are going to sign is just a rumour until rafa comes out on tv and can be seen and hear actually saying the words

Fair enough. End of discussion with you Peewee, your point is clear. If Simari has something to add about my contradiction that would be the last word about this little "disagreement".

stop editing your posts afterwards, just think before you write it    :D

opinions lead to rumours mate, thats how they start, someone says in my opinion ronaldo would be great for us, that then gets exxagerated and before long we have a rumour that we signing ronaldo.

nature of the beast mate, people will gossip about anything when they dont have the facts.

seriously we would have nothing to discuss.

anyway i am debating going to watch thailand v holland tonight, kuyt is playing

My point here was that - I could very easily start a rumor based on my opinion, and in due time, there would be no difference between the two.

Some would see it as a rumor, whereas if you asked the individual that first mentioned it - he/she would say, "but that was only my opinion ..."

My opinion became a rumor and therefore the statement, 'my opinions are rumors'.

The bit about contradiction was mentioning 'Pointless' and 'rumors' in the same sentence.

A rumor is indeed pointless for a serious discussion - but since we are talking about 'gossip' in this section (i.e: stories without a fact), it is not pointless to discuss any rumor.

** Going by my previous explanation, where every rumor is unfounded - it is not pointless to talk about unfounded rumors, because you are still 'gossiping'. **

Hope that explains my point of view!

And yes, end of discussion :D

For me it may be redundant, but not a contradiction.

Anyway, I agree you in the MAIN point. Rumours will exist and must be commented. Rumours can be of course discussed, and we all can have an opinion about them. But IMHO what we shouldn't do is to use rumours as a valid arguement to make a point, about Xabi, Rafa, the club, or anyone. The points are clear, we disagree a bit, no problemo. :)

I'd love to have both Tevez and Henry, or at least one of them.

Barcelona in the meantime is saying that they won't sell Eto'o under any circunstances. Galliani, the Milan staff man said that once the liga is over they'll make their bid, but Barcelona says it's not for sale. Which I think it means "the money you'll have to pay is ridiculous".

I think the Eto'o option is a tough one. Barcelona is a top team, and if they get rid of Eto'o they can't face the liga with the likes of Gudjohnsen, or Saviola.

I am being contriversial in saying that I wouldn't want us to sign Eto for £35 Mil, or Alonso plus cash, does this not seem like a lot of money for a player with his baggage.  There must be others available.  I hate this time of the year.  Talk, talk, talk.... About nothing any of us really know, just speculation, and wishful thinking.
