Slightly surprising imo, but on a free,it's not a bad acquisition at all.

It just worries me slightly when it is reported that we came in with a late bid, it's as though we didn't know who we wanted in the first place.

Anyway, good luck to the lad for choosing Pompey, it's just the kind of club where he should flourish.

Could be that, or likely also the fact that he knows he won't be first choice over here. I doubt Rafa is looking to break up the Carra-Agger link. And at Distin's age, he cannot afford to be warming up the bench for too long.

Would have been a good deal for us for free, and he would make a good squad player, but I can understand his reasons for not joining us.

Actually a very good defender with terrific recovery pace and also good aerial ability.

Would have kept Agger out of the side in my opinion.

Didn't know viduka is on a free....If we wanna sign a lazy striker who can score loads of goals (if he is provided with decent service)....then he is the one...

For me a good signs must be Viduka and Metzelder

i wud start to worry alot if we did sign distin... coz he was dodgy for city... soo jst imagine wat he wud b lyk for the mighty reds :S....wouldn't bare imagining about!

i wudnt lyk to see figo at anfield... metzelder wouldnt be a bad free signing!
