fact: kewell is a better player than pederson, downing or any left sided midfielder we can afford... bar D.Silva

my team for next season would look something like this... now with the whole rafa thing worked out...  made some changes to my initial lineup..

                                                   Reina (carson)

D.Alves (finnan)           Carragher (Arbeloa)       Agger (Millito?)         Riise (aurelio)

Pennant (Garcia/Gerrard)                Mascherano/Alonso                   Silva (Kewell)

                                                     Gerrard (lucas)

                                         Kuyt (Voronin)          XXX (Crouch)

XXX could be any of Owen, Villa, Torres, Tevez....etc

i do realize that we need 2 quality strikers but as is (crouch and Kuyt not leaving), i dont see rafa paying out for 2 world class strikers this season... maybe one if we are lucky but i wouldnt bet on getting 2 class strikers..

reports seem to suggest millito and alvez are close to agreeing deals with liverpool and we obviously need a left midfielder since qonzales and zenden are bound to leave... we might as well get a class LM rather than getting a cheap backup for kewell and risk him underperforming if kewell is injured....

Just to clarify, I'm not blowing Downing's trumpet, he is NOT my preferred option if we were to sign a left mid. He is just an option we COULD consider, all I was doing was comparing him with Pedersen.

Daniel Alves would be Number 1 target for me for next season. I would love to see him at Liverpool, not only because he has ability on the ball, is strong and has pace but his work rate is magnificent. But don't know if he'll be available. Sevilla played the best football in Spain this season, so maybe he might prefer to stay and give it a go for next season. Another Striker and back up at centre back.

WHAT CAN £60M BUY  = ESSIEN + DROGBA
                                ROONEY + RIO + HARGREVES

WHY IS IT MAD TO SPEND £60M ON 4 TOP CLASS PLAYERS

It would take a hell of a lot more than 60 million to buy those players, and not even a negotiator on a level with OJ SIMPSONS lawyer would get them for that ammount  ???

No you didn't but....when i suggested Gamst Pedersen you said "I think we need someone with more pace, strength and who is a more powerful runner than Morten Gamst Pederson." When i suggested there was a dearth of quality left-sided players available you included Downing in your list of (quality?) players whilst ommitting Pedersen. Maybe i'm jumping the gun here and making a 'stupid assumption' but this allied to your previous comments about Pedersen lead me to think you rate downing more highly. Do you?

however gamst does have a lot of quality - in the air, running and positiong.  He has adapted very well in the premiership so i think it wud be a very good buy.

WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY WAS £60M WAS THE AMOUNT THAT CHELSKI AND THE MANCS SPENT ON THOSE PLAYERS,
DROGBA £24M ESSIEN 2?M ,  RIO £18M ROONEY £25M HARGREAVES £20M,
WE NEED THAT TYPE OF PURCHASING POWER TO GET THE BEST PLAYERS.

Sorry mate.... but isn't that closer to 110 million?

Or did you mean the Mancs spent 63 million on 3 players and Chelsea spend 50 + million on 2 players?
