You know what the worst part is about this?

He'll go from wearing the majestic all-red of Liverpool Football Club.....to wearing green and white stripes.

He was never the player you guys thought he was, and that is mostly Rafa's fault. Never played the way he likes to play the most (he's more of a striker in my opinion), and it looked like a worse player than he actually is in the way Rafa was asking him to play.

Im not surprised he's going, I think liverpool will be better off without him and he'll feel far better in Spain. Still, being chilean and a liverpool fan it's sad for me to see him go, even more after reading so many hateful comments about him here :(

Anyways, cheers to all of you

Hey Varekai, we've talked a couple of times about our beloved LFC somewhere else, and in another language  :;):

I'm dissapointed and gutted too, but because of Mark. YOu know how difficult is to tryumph in a top  club.

My opinion on Mark remains intact, he has the very attributes he had yesteryear, and he could not prove it in continuous games here. But then it was his first season, in a foreign land, and he didn't speak english at all, it's not easy.

I'm sure the lad will make it in Betis, and I'm sure he'll even go to a greater club afterwards.

ok I reckon we must already have someone lined up whos gonna fight for the left sided berth with Harry. I also reckon the gov department who hand out work permits are probably calling rafa right now to ask what all the vociferous s4it was, you know"mark is for sure the best player in chile..... so why cant he play for liverpool?" next time its really gonna be tough. Finally Rafa appears to suddenly have enough rope(coin) to hang himself...whats the old sayin? "be careful what you wish for, it just might come true". For the 1st time he may be actually able to  purchase the players he most craves, he talks like this is the only reason he fails in most competitions and opposing managers flurish. Interesting times ahead, I reckon Raf will leave for Real Madrid before the spending begins, ole

Not being able to triumph in Liverpool Football Club doesn't prove you should not get a work permit as a professional footballer in England. There you have Mascherano. I'd bet my mortgage that the press said back in London that "he wasn't suited for the english game" or "not adapted to the high tempo of the premiership" or one of those stereotypes that they like to write week in, week out and people happily echo in pubs and forums. The Spanish Stereotypes are even more ridiculous. They still think that you play long balls.

He abandoned that club, and now he's triumphing. So the fact that Gonzalez or Morientes didn't make it here, doesn't mean they wouldn't have been successful in Tottenham, under other manager and under another game style.

Gonzalez hasn't proven to be good enough for Liverpool Football Club, that's all.

P.S. If I was a Spanish foreign office man and was deciding work permits, I'd consider the fact that Gonzalez made to have minutes and even make it to the sub's bench of Liverpool Football Club a proof of his ability to play football professionally. Ih he manages to do that in LFC then he could do it in the starting eleven of other lesser yet professional clubs, in ANY country of the world..

I don't know who do you think I was directing my response, and quite frankly, I don't care. But you brought the issue of work permits, and I've remembered all he had to go through to play in England. Too much time lost in burocracy when he had proven he could play as a professional in a top league. And he was kept from playing in England due to some ridiculous FIFA artificial rankings.

he couldn't hack it afterall, the gov department will feel vindicated and, as a result, any potential targets rafa may have will surely have to comply to all the stringent criteria.

good call batman
Sebastián Leto (born August 30, 1986, Alejandro Korn, Buenos Aires) is an Argentine football player who currently plays for Club Atlético Lanús, on loan from Liverpool. He is a fast-paced left winger, but is unusually tall for the position at 1.88 m (6 ft 2 in).

Leto broke into the Lanús first team in 2005. In summer 2006 there were rumours linking him with a move to Real Betis for €4 million. River Plate and Racing Club were interested in buying him before Liverpool stepped in to sign the youngster in January of 2007 for $3.6 million. Leto will join Liverpool for the start of the 2007-2008 season. The player stated that he is relishing the chance to play for Liverpool, "I am calm. Liverpool is a club with a lot of history. I do not fear the challenge," said Leto.[1]
