Which of these players got you most excited? - Ex players

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Was just playing an old copy of pro evo and all these players are on it and it got me thinking........

Bruno cheyrou........cant remember him having a good game, but i had high hopes for the lad when he signed

Salif diao........the new viera......i remember one good headed goal from him, thats about him.......was excited when he signed aswell

el hadji diouf.........2 times african player of the year, could have been just what we needed......i remember him doing some sublime skills against southampton though

Anthony le tallec.........had high hopes for this lad, however he has never shown me has premiership class

pongolle........also high hopes for him, i think hes an ok player and would be good for a team like fulhum or something

So which of these did you really think could have gone on to great things, until you actually watched him play?[/B]

Diouf definately, you could add way more players to this though - the one that always sticks out for me is Morientes, I really thought we had a genuine goalscorer on our hands when we snapped him up.

I actually thought Pongolle was pretty good at times, but that's the story of most of the forwards we've bought in recent years - they'd be (like you said) good players for teams like Fulham but for a team trying to mount a title challenge, just not good enough.

I remember Cheyrou coming back from injury and having a good run in the team and scoring goals but when we got the 1st teamers back he was dropped, never to be seen again !

Which of those players got me most excited? Hmm, if I'm honest, NONE! I knew we were signing goats at the time, and the 10 million of so for Diouf has to go down as one of the worse peices of business ever heard of at the club. Ridiculous.

Diouf for me. He scored two on his debut didnt he? Probably the most he ever did for us. Apart from Spitting, which he done more often than score :D

I think Cisse was good to watch and I felt he was a little unlucky to be the last one signed by GH before Rafa came in. He kept getting put on the right wing where he clearly wasn't happy.

I was genuinely excited by Le Tallec and Pongolle.

I was spectularly let down.

Oh and Bruno Cheyrou was far overrated on one pro.

Wasn't Le Tallec supposed to be the new Zidane? Wow. There's wrong and there's wrong but my God, you wouldn't think it was possible would you? :D
