Still gutted from last night. I had a lot more confidence in the team this year compared to 2005 and I genuinely thought we were going to win it. Maybe thats our downfall, we never seem to win when we are meant to and always seem to do the impossible when we shouldn't be allowed to.
From the moment the game kicked off we had the better play with the ball. Pennant went through, Gerrard went through, Xabi missed the bottom corner and Milan did not do anything of any note up until the 44th minute.
Kaka, who contary to popular belief was NOT in Maschereno's pocket all game, went down and won the freekick for Pirlo to hit which took the lucky deflection off Inzaghi, but thats football. Kaka also for me showed why he was the best player on the park last night with this, his pefect through ball for the second, his lovely run where he was wrongly called offside and his general play. His passing is awesome. He was a star last night in a mediocre Milan side.
Once the first goal went in, my heart sank. The old familar story of not scoring goals was going to come back to haunt us.
After the second, it was a formality. I walked out but had to go back for my mobile. I seen our goal and thought maybe but it wasn't to be. The ref did blow up 30 seconds early but we were good enough over the 90 mins.
I could pick holes in Rafa's tactics, team selection, use of Gerrard, use of substitions but whats the point, he went out and got us there doing things his way. Rafa's the gaffer and the best we had have in these regions for a while.
Milan won and they derserved their victory.
Roll on next season, another season of highs and lows for Liverpool fans with surely after the all the talk from Gilett and Hicks, a proper go at the league and the champions league again. The summers going to be very interesting and I'm sure lots of big names will want to play for the only team in Liverpool (sooner the better). And another season of mediocrity for the bitters across the park. There are back in Europe ya know, sure they won't be travelling to the likes of Barcelona, Athens and Chelsea away, but who needs that when they have FC Haka of Finland, Vikings of Norway and those European giants Bolton!
Its nice to see our Liverpool sections has been inudated with posts from the bitters and the manc alike. I think our section has been more popular today with the bitters than theirs has all season. 12 new posts overnight, well done. Its just confirmed what every Liverpool fan knows, its what WE are doing , Liverpool, that matters most to then.

Last night I was in Mathew Street in Liverpool city centre after the game and our fans congregated there singing YNWA. Was a pretty amazing sight. I joined in but I then went and had a drink in this pub and halfway through, I said to my mate that my night was over. I had every intention before the game (win or lose) of not even going home last night. I felt like I'd been kicked in the balls though. So I left my pint half drank and just walked out.
Got a young lady friend to come and pick me up from Town and we went for a drive for a bit. Cleared my head, just wanted to get away from it all. Some dealt with it by partying into the night no doubt, and for what it's worth, it looked like an amazing atmosphere. I'd drank about ten pints before and during the game last night and I felt stone cold sober and just knew that my night was over.
I've every faith that we'll win this Cup again soon though.
