Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well done the Redmen we played well this morning i am proud to be red.

Pennant played a blinder last night as well did Mash, well done lads, Stevie G was awsome unlucky to be the loosing captain this morning, sometimes i just think Rafa's plans escape me, why no bellamy to beat an ageing defence? why bring on Arbeloa in defnce when we are chasing the game? oh well look forward to getting there again next year  :D Part 3 LFC V Millan  :buttrock

I have only seen the match once but the way I saw it someone (can't remember who) stepped on Kewell's foot. Kewell started hobbling ( I thought here we go) and then did not track back to cover Kaka for him to set up the second goal. Kaka had loads of space and when he first got the ball Kewell was closest to him and was walking back. Kewell proceeded to walk through the rest of the match I mean afterall he would not want to get injured for the socceroos this summer. Injured my @rse, he has no heart to play for the reds.

The milan players lifted the MOTM and that was Belosconi (?). Without him owning the judges, they would not have been able to play CL. How could the owner of a team be next to the president of UEFA while he hands the cup. I hate it when the "bad guy" wins. Cheating b@stards.

Not only that but the players in general were over confidnet.

I didnt like that artivcle about Crouch wanting to waive some medals in the Chelsea players face.

Not that its bad thing to be confidnet.

Didn't want to be harsh on Kewell, but I agree.

Anyway it's Rafa's fault, it's him who takes the decission of using a player who hasn't played nothing.

I didn't understand Arbeloa's incoming into the game, UNLESS the substituted player was knackered.

I also agree Mistyred on Pennant. perhaps not a blinder, but he did a lot of harm and was very important especially in the first half. Of course I can see his crosses were not the best. All players make mistakes, Alonso, Gerrard, Pennant, and even Carraguer (rarely). Saying "blinder" or "horrible" game is often up to how much you want to focus on mistakes or well done things. But Pennant's game as a whole, wasn't bad whasoever, IMHO.

proud of the team.

I thought not one of our players should feel they played terribly or anything like that....this whole campaign ive tried to not put too much hope on us winning it, its easier that way and better if we win. it wasn't to be even though, i thought we played the better game. I cannot think of any period of the game where they were threatening us constantly, actually i cant think of many saves pepe had to make ...
we had our chances....half chances most of them were except for stevie's 1-on-1(which wasn't easy) but u need some luck to go your way like it did for them with their first goal...and because we had to commit more men forward their 2nd goal came at the worst time...i was wondering why masch went off, although he was on a yellow i thought he was ruling the midfield with an iron fist, but i can see why rafa brought him off with us needing another striker and alonso being able to be more effective in the final third more so then masch...
i think rafa got the tactics right today for the most part, i don't agree with stevie playing that far up tho....i've seen him play there several times after istanbul and its never worked, he's more comfortable in central mid...he was getting himself involved but he never got that magic touch or shot off yesterday. im sure he must have been dropping back into mid also because they had a 5-man midfield too...but he was marked almost as good as kaka was throughout the game...
pennant found himself with a lot of time on the ball also, sometimes he could have done better but he did carve out a couple of good chances for us...and Kuyt did the best he could as a lone striker, as i said before the players can be proud of themselves cos i wouldn't say any1 had a bad game, some could have played better yes but they put their all into it yesterday it was plane to see.

if it were 0-0 at half-time im sure we would have gone on to win it...it just wasn't our turn this time.

the end.

bigmick wrote:Don't know about Alonso or anyone else being shocking. You've got to allow for the fact that they are a very good team and we shaded a pretty tight encounter overall so nobody was shocking.

As for Pennant I thought he did fairly well but the fact that he is unaccustomed to the big occasion showed. He'll probably be lying awake for a few nights wondering why when faced with a simple roll-back to give Gerrard a golden scoring opportunity on his right foot from ten yards out, he inexplicably decided to chip the ball into our captains left side, causing him to break stride and the opportunity to pass. On such decisions, big games are won and lost and we paid dearly for that one.

I dont think any of the team was shocking.
Even Zenden had his good points. shame that he let himself get closed down when he got the ball.
we just got unlucky, yes Crouch should have come on at 60 mins or from the start but that easy to say now. up till 43 mins we did not let them into the game.

and they must of been pooing it when we got one back. heard on the radio after the game that someone had worked out that there should have been 4 mins extra at the end of the game plus time added for the sub, so it should have been 5mins, instead we got 3 mins and the Rew blew at 2:30 and there any much you can do about that.
we was pushing up all the time and we were always open for them to get another goal but thas the risk we had to take with 10 mins left.

we did well, much better than the press said we was going to do. they said we was going to get hit like man u did

should be interesting over the next few weeks as i feel the new players will start to come to the club sooner rather that a day before the window is shut.

i think we will be letting some names go like

Mark Gonzalez
Harry Kewell
Jermaine Pennant
Craig Bellamy
Boudewijn Zenden

and even Peter Crouch, so its going to be a bit strange next year but i hope the new team will gell , there should be no "its a new team give them time", they need to gell fats in one to two games.

You have to wonder don't you? As I said, he was MOTM and that is why they were carrying him on their shoulders. Must be nice to own a country.

The European Cup is on loan. We'll get it back. No doubt about it.

I tell you that Milan team was average and that is why I feel so bothered. I think that team will not win CL again for a while. We are a young team.
